self isolation and clinics

just wanted to check what people's clinics had advised them to do? Self isolate for the whole cycle or only part of it?
(sorry if there's been a thread on this already, I couldn't find it!) x

No self isolation just sensible shielding - they can't expect people to take weeks off work unpaid. I worked from home and DH drove to work instead of public transport. Older DD still has school so couldn't hardly pull her out to isolate whole family

Officially we were told to self isolate from the beginning to the end of treatment - although my nurse just said 'be extra careful'. However, my work were lovely and managed to arrange for me to work from home (normally has to be patient facing) so my DH and I were pretty over the top with self-isolating. We figured it was our one chance at an NHS funded round and we didn't want it cancelled if we got ill. I appreciate though that many don't have this luxury!

@mayihavesomecakeplease I work in patient facing services too, on long protocol I'll be working from home for 2 weeks before egg collection but now I'm wondering if I should ask for the whole 5 weeks at home but that might be a little too long :/ I'm taking sensible precautions anyway so hopefully the risk is low anyway but I'm naturally quite an anxious person so will always worry!

I'm a secondary teacher. I've been told to stay in my 2m box away from everyone. My clinic are fine with that, although I don't think they really realise what it's like and how exposed I am. I'm not really ok with it but there's not much I can do as I don't want to wait until the summer holidays to start another round. If I could afford to quit work I would. I'm terrified I'll be told to isolate or pick up a cold or Covid at exactly the wrong time. Sometimes I can't sleep because I keep thinking of all the different scenarios of why my treatment might get cancelled.

I'm short protocol and had to sign a declaration with my clinic to say I would self isolate from start of stims until egg collection. I was shielding back in March-August so am pretty much just carrying on as we did then and not seeing anyone.

@seven201 I know the feeling, I work in patient facing services and I'm so anxious whenever I see someone. I'll be able to work from home 2 weeks before the egg collection but I'm on the long protocol so I'm also really anxious at the moment. My clinic only asked to self isolate in the last few days before EC they will swab us then.

Seems the advice for everyone is a little different!

@Roo45 it's so tough isn't it. I'll be in school except for the day of egg collection and transfer day (if we get an embryo). No tests at all. I wish the HFEA set the systems so all the clinics had a similar approach. Although I guess my clinic was approved to re-open so it must be good enough for them. I just have to confirm I don't have symptoms, that's it.
