Hi all,
Im getting to the end of my tether with TTC & I guess looking for any similar people in my situation.
Im 38, been TTC #1 for 2yrs 2months Ive literally had all tests under the sun, Im fine as is DH (47). Probably just our combined ages. I recently tried Clomid, trigger & prog pessaries for 2months for an ‘extra boost’ got excellent follicles & lining but alas no pregnancy. My RE switched me to Letrozole, i took first tab last night, CD 2. I will get scanned again & will try again next month before doing IVF in Dec/Jan. Fortunately where I live I get 3 IVF cycles free on the NHS so I know I shouldn't complain.
Ever since coming off the pill just over 2yrs ago I spot a week before my period, I've seen endless docs (private & NHS) & they say it shouldn't prevent me from conceiving. Ive spoken to other women who had same problem & conceived easily. (My progesterone is great, no fibroids, endo etc). Ive wasted a small fortune on acupuncture, supplements but nothing is helping.
Anyone in a similar-ish boat? Starting IVF soon or just generally fed up with unexplained infertility?

Hi Everyone,

I know this is an older thread but is there any update off anyone?

Since last July I’ve had a whole week of spotting before my period starting at 7/8 dpo and sometimes even 5 dpo. I’ve had a hysterscopy. Hormones and everything else checked and we can find the reason. Progesterone results have always been good and I track BBT also and get High temps even when spotting. So I’ve been prescribed progesterone this month but I’m not sure it will work because of things mentioned in this post and being checked anyway.

my Dr said if the progesterone doesn’t stop the brown spotting he suggests moving to IVF but I’m worried it might hinder my chances and it’s such a financial cost.

Thanks in advance for any help

hey @Loz2467
sorry for delayed response. I had my first IVF cycle shortly after the last messages above. It wasn’t successful. I then did a private cycle in Jan 21 with the same clinic and had a successful pregnancy. I haven’t had a period since Jan 2021 so no idea how my cycle is these days but I can say that IVF worked for me and I didn’t have to worry about my spotting early as the progesterone I took or the pregnancy itself must have done the job!
good luck xx

@Jane1284 thanks so much for replying and congrats on your little one! I’m so glad it worked out for you! That’s reassuring to know the progesterone took care of the brown spotting. I get a whole week of it so it’s a lot and it’s so frustrating. It makes me so down after getting pregnant in the past and I just can’t now. I’ve got 400mg cycolgest to take 48 hours after ovulation so I’ll see how that goes. If it doesn’t “fix” it I’ll be off for IVF I guess. I’ve had a full biopsy etc so I can’t think what else it might be.

@Loz2467 it’s so frustrating when you don’t know what is wrong but I hope the cyclogest helps with the spotting! I also started taking vitex before I started IVF but I’m not sure I was on it long enough to make a difference as I was still spotting a few days before my period. I then had to stop it for the IVF.
goodluck with the IVF if you do go down that route.
It’s a lot to go through but if you’ve exhausted all other options then it’s a good option xx
