November Egg Retrieval-IVF/FET

Hi all,

I thought I would start a thread for anyone who is starting a cycle in Nov and is not going to have a fresh transfer.
I have been TTC for baby no 1 for close to 2 years now and my IVF cycle got pushed back because of covid.
Because of my age (38) and other issues I have (endo, pcos), I am not going to go fresh transfer but will have the embryos PGS tested. We may do icsi too.

Dates- I am starting pill in a few days for 21 days, after which I will start the meds.
It is my first cycle and I am panicking. I am so scared of needles. I don't know how I am going to cope with the daily shots. But I just need to put my big girl panties on.

Any tips on what to do for these 30 days to prepare for stimulation? I am exercising and trying to eat better. Taking folic acid, omega and multivitamins.

I hope I will be mentally strong to deal with this.

Hi @AlreadyThere 🙂 Thought I'd invite you over to the other November thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/infertility/4013968-November-IVF-FET

Please come join us, but I'll keep chatting to you here if you'd prefer 😊 I'm starting our first FET after a MMC at 10+5 from our first fresh cycle in January - having my prostap injection on Tuesday and then ET will hopefully be mid to end of November. Good luck to you 🍀

Thanks @BambiOnIce80 ! I have checked it out. Very informative.

Unfortunately most ladies on that thread appear to already have frozen embryos and will now be going straight to transfer?

I was hoping to engage with those who are preparing for egg retrieval because we will be at the same stage of preparation.

But I will hop on there too because there is tonnes of useful information.

Hey I'm prepping for egg retrieval in November. Been on a lot of the other boards and others do seem a lot further on than I am. I'm planned in for a fresh transfer but am high risk for OHSS so who knows!

@MF1981 hello there and welcome!

Is this your first IVF cycle?

I understand people with PCOS are also at risk of OHSS. For me it's just because I want to have the embryos tested, and actually give my body a break between the collection and transfer. ( and hopefully lose a few more pounds before transfer so I get my BMI under 30.

Yes it’s my first cycle so it’s all brand new to me. I have PCO but not PCOS - high AFC and high AMH. I have heard of people with similar numbers to me ending up having to have FET due to OHSS - I’m hoping not but we’ll have to wait and see.
