Very high FSH and LH levels

Last October I came off Cerazette (progestogen only pill) as me and my partner want to start a family. I had been on the pill for a number of years so expected that’s things would be a little slow but my period hasn’t returned.

I have had blood tests which put my FSH at 135 and LH at 76.7. I was then put on progestogen only pill for 2 weeks to give a withdrawal bleed and had the tests repeated again on day 2 of bleed. My levels dropped but still high FSH 93.5 and LH 46.1.

I have had an ultrasound which didn’t detect any cysts. Before the blood tests I had a positive pregnancy test and then 9 negatives so assume I fall into the false positive camp.

My GP is calling me next week to discuss but I’m thinking that with these results being so high and having no period and hot flushes, I am menopausal.

I am only 32 so this has come as a shock to us.

Has anyone had any similar experiences or any advice would be much appreciated

If the fsh test isn’t done on days 1-5, the results don’t mean anything. A pill induced bleed isn’t a real bleed or a real cycle so I’m not sure if this counts- ie it wasn’t “proper” day 2. I would ask about this.

You probably need the amh test to confirm your egg reserve situation.

If the results are correct in terms of when they were done- yes, they indicate the menopause and you’d need to discuss your options re management of this from a health perspective and also where this leaves you re Children. There are options.

Good luck.
