Hi all
I have been reading mumsnet chats for 3 years whilst ttc but never posted. I would love to hear some success stories or advice from anyone who can help please....
I have a very short luteal phase of 6 days since a termination in January due to fatal abnormalities (which I believe were caused by clomid) currently trying vit c, b complex, procieve to lengthen luteal phase. I currently ovulate on day 22 and my period comes on day 28 (it is so light I barely even notice it and then have some spotting mid cycle)
Very reluctant to take any fertility drugs so just wondering had anyone had success with vitamins? Reflexology? Acupuncture? Also I have a pituitary tumour which causes my prolactin levels to increase but I took medication for this and my levels are stable at the moment
Many thanks 😊

Hi @jess414 👋

If you've been TTC for 3 years I would probably request some more investigations? I assume you've had some if you've been on clomid?

Your luteal phase could be short for all number of reasons, and a short luteal phase doesn't necessarily cause issues with fertility. Personally I would get some more investigations done, clarity on what your issues are and then follow medical advice in terms of how to try to improve things.

Good luck 🤞

Hi @jess414
I'm not an expert but wanted to share my experience. I've been on several different supplements over the last few years I have also tried Acupuncture and Chinese herbs. I had short, light period with a short LP just like you. What my Tcm practitioner said is that there are two reasons for light/short periods, either the lining didn't shed properly or it didn't build properly in a first place. Unfortunately clomid is well known for damaging the lining, how long did you take it for?
I only took the herbs for 2 months but could see an immediate impact. My cycles become much healthier, more profuse and nice colour. I did acupuncture for a year and although didn't see massive changes still liked the treatments.
I would recommend the combination of the two treatments if you like the idea of alternative medicine. It could help you with hormonal imbalance, shorten the follicular phase as it seems too long and lenghten the LP.
Best of luck X

@MGee123 thank you replying, I didn’t want to make my post too long but I have been under fertility with the nhs for two years now and they have checked everything and it is all fine which is good. We have been told we can be referred for ivf in January but really hoping to let it happen naturally if possible as I am petrified of taking any drugs again.
Thank you for the reassurance it doesn’t necessarily mean that a short lp can cause infertility, I can still hope it may just happen...

@Chicasimona thank you for the reply. I took clomid for 4 months and then after the termination it took around 4 months for my periods to return but they are all messed up.
Thank you for sharing your experience have u managed to conceive yet? I have only been taking the supplements for a month so have yet to see an impact, just hoping they do what they did for you as googling a 6 day lp it is near on impossible to sustain a pregnancy even if we did conceive

Hi @jess414
Although we haven't conceived yet, I feel my body much healthier and feel more positive.
We have been ttc with unexplained for years and same as you I was desperate to conceive naturally but I came to peace now that it might not happen and I'm ready for the next step.
If you are young and have time on your hand you can try all sorts of alternative medicine but otherwise you might consider to go down the IVF route instead.
Best of luck X

@Chicasimona thank you, good luck to you too! I am 33 now so not getting any younger!
I mean my to ask what Chinese herbs you used that seemed to work with your light period?
Many thanks 😊

Hey hope you’re all well I was just reading this thread and thought I’d suggest hormistol. It is meant for pcos but anyone can use it , it regulates period and helps to conceive , and is good for cell regeneration. I’ve been using it for a couple months and it’s curbed my appetite i am sleeping better. I come on my period regularly and even though I’m ttc fertility issues are with my husband but I just thought I’d take it as it’s good for the body. I follow this woman on Instagram and she raves about it and posted 100’s of success stories of women struggling to conceive , everyone reacts differently to everything but saw your post and thought I’d suggest it hormistol.co.uk/
