Hi - my period is currently 6 days late.. I did have slight cramping when I was due but since then no cramps no symptoms nothing... only thing different this month is I started metformin... has anyone experienced this after starting metformin pills ? I take 1000mg a day. I have been testing daily and only getting BFNs. Any advise would be welcome as I am currently losing my mind.

Are you taking Metformin because of PCOS?. If so it’s likely to be PCOS that is causing your period to be late rather than Metformin.

I would urge you not to test every day.

I have been given metformin for suspected pcos - however I have always had regular periods ( I don’t have any actual cysts) but I don’t always ovulate and have a few other symptoms
Related to pcos..do consultant asked me to
Try and track my ovulation uski gets opks and blood tests to see
If any change - however now af hasn’t arrived and I have no symptoms ie. no bloating, feeling warm or cramping... just tired of this all! Your right I should stop testing daily

If PCOS is suspected I would further urge you to refrain from using ovulation predictor kits. These are beset with problems particularly if PCOS is present as these kits measure LH. As LH is seen in excessive amounts in many PCOS patients the kit reads that and gives a false result. Blood tests would give you an accurate result and you need day 2 tests done to check and compare your LH level against that of FSH.

The cystic follicles associated with PCOS are tiny and do disappear, only to be replaced by further cystic follicles. A poly cystic ovary can also appear to be larger in size that a “normal” ovary (which is walnut sized).
