Not sure where to begin!

Hi
Myself and my husband have been TTC for over 5 years without any luck.
We went for fertility treatment and it came back that my husband had no low/no sperm count due to type 1 diabetes damage.
I have PCOS and Endometriosis so they advised I needed to lose weight etc and then we could go back but we would have to pay as husband has a child from previous marriage, so no help from NHS.
At the time we weren't financially able to go through any treatment so put it all on hold.
2 years later we are now in a position financially but I'm at a loss where I would need to go from here. Do I need to go back to my regular GP and ask for tests to be done to look at being referred to a private clinic? Still not sure what route to go down as husband would need to be checked again also to see if sperm retrieval possible.
I'm just looking for any advise on where to begin again as I am unsure what steps to take next
Thanks

@Cl4ire you do not need a GP referral for private IVF, you just call the clinic of your choice and book an initial appointment. They will speak to you about your history let you know what treatment they advise. They will be able to carry out a new sperm analysis on your husband (I can't remember the rough cost but they might have it listed in their website)

It depends on the clinic - some like those that are part of a large hospital eg Birmingham Women's or Coventry Hospital request a GP referral first

Other stand alone private clinics don't. I went to Create and no referral was required

Thank you both for your replies. I have seen some comments on other threads saying you have to be referred through your GP.
I'll look on for private clinics that don't ask for a referral as our GP not seeing anybody for physical appointments due to COVID for a while, so may be a long wait to get in with them if I don't have to.
Thank you again for helping, felt a bit overwhelmed and unsure so you have helped ease my mind!
