How soon did you start treatment after the IVF consent appointment?

That’s it really. This will be our first round of IVF and we have our nurse’s appointment next week to run through the procedure and how to administer injections and then have our consent appointment first week Nov to sign all forms and to have HIV blood tests. There is no waiting list at my clinic and i'm hoping we can squeeze in a round before the xmas break - only problem is my period is due to start the day after the content appointment!

It depends really - if it's NHS or an NHS hospital appointment that also takes private patients then probably won't be before Xmas - sounds like it is as I've only ever known "consent" appointments to be done at NHS places. At my private clinic we just took all the forms home and signed them and popped in for the HIV tests etc. Also most NHS hospital clinics dont treat patients for most of December (unlike private clinics which usually only close for xmas day)

@ivfbeenbusy Thanks for your reply. Yes we will be on the NHS and i'm expecting them to say you can't start until January :(

Hi, I was somewhere that had both NHS and private patients. I was NHS, signed my consent forms mid January, and I could start my cycle when I started my next period, which was 2 weeks later. I think it will all depend on the clinic, I was really surprised that it was so quick!
Fingers crossed yours is as quick! Emily

Kitttycatt · 14/10/2020 14:25

@embri That was quick, it would be amazing if they said that to me. Although, judging by how long everything else seems to take pretty unlikely.

@Kitttycatt Hi Kittycatt, we're waiting for our first cycle due to severe MFI and apparently very furry ovaries! Also on the NHS and hoping for January. I think you're right and getting in before then will be unlikely. Our clinic closes down for 2 weeks over the xmas period :(.

But in some ways waiting until a new year feels positive, lets hope 2021 is a much better year.

Hope all goes well for you x

We're NHS. Consent appointment on 29/9 and started on 5/10. Actually started norethisterone before the appointment. It was super quick - gave me less time to overthink it.

Kitttycatt · 14/10/2020 17:03

@Rosieposy89 that gives me some hope thanks, I’m sure I’ll get a better idea next week. Hope all goes well for you.
@MrsMeow2019 we also have MFI - low morphology so will need ICSI. Good Luck!

@Kitttycatt us too, at least that means more chance of them fertilising - I hope 🤞. Good luck :-)

I was NHS patient at private clinic - did consent early Aug and started stims after my next period, mid Sept, ER end of Sept and currently in my tww! Here’s hoping it’s similar for you!

Embri · 14/10/2020 19:20

We were very low morphology, motility and number! Unfortunately only 3 out of the 9 eggs collected fertilised, but one was a hatching blastocyst at day 5 (and currently is pressing its head against my bladder, due in less than 4 weeks!) one was able to be frozen at day 6, the other unfortunately didn’t make the grade to be frozen.
It really does only take one, so don’t be disheartened if you don’t get good fertilisation rates! Good luck!

Kitttycatt · 15/10/2020 12:19

Best of luck @BernadetteSunday

@Embri congratulations, it's so nice to hear sucess stories, hope everything goes smoothly in the next 4 weeks.

I imagine it varies widely depending on lots of different factors (private/NHS) probably only being one of them. We have our consenting appt next week, and are planning to start our cycle the following week when AF arrives 🤞

Kitttycatt · 16/10/2020 12:23

@MGee123 Best of luck!
