ABC Medication

I'm due to start my first IVF cycle on Thursday (I think this might be the first time I've looked forward to a period!) and now that I'm getting close I've gone a little blank on which medication is taken when.
I'm with ABC, I had looked at a couple of other clinics but this was the only clinic that was so friendly and non-judgemental that I absolutely loved them.
I've been sent bemfola, cetrocide and ovitrelle in one package, and progesterone and an antibiotics course in the other. I know I have to start the bemfola once I get my period, but after that I'm drawing a blank! I haven't been given the nurse number yet to call and ask, and I don't want to sound really silly and forgetful!
Can anyone else that has had IVF remember which order the medication should be taken, and a rough timeline?

I was in same meds, start with Bemfola on day 2 of period, they will tell you when to start cetrocide when you go for a monitoring scan, ovitrelle is your trigger shot again they will tell you when to inject as trigger shot is time specific. Pessaries you will start after egg collection
Good luck with your treatment

Thank you so much! I have been worrying that I was meant to start on more than just bemfola, so that's a big relief!

Did you find the injections painful? I'm not great with pain and it's worrying me a little!

And thank you so much for the good luck, only one person in my life knows so it's such a relief to have found mumsnet and be able to talk about all of this :)

@SoNewToThis if you are ever in doubt, call the ABC call centre. Ask them you want to speak to nurse about medicine. If nurses are busy, someone will definitely call you back. They are great at communication.

I used to get a rash after injecting cetrotide. But it disappeared in few hours. I called them and they said it's a common side effect. Nothing to worry

Otherwise the injections are not painful at all

The antibiotics are for after egg collection

Good luck with your treatment 🤞

@ivfcycle3 Thank you for the advice, I worry that I'm asking silly questions and the team have been so supportive so far that I don't want them to think less of me for being fairly clueless!

They have been amazing with everything so far, I'm so glad I found ABC! I had taken a couple of consults with closer clinics but they were so unfriendly that as soon as I went for my initial scan I knew I was in the right place!

I figured the antibiotics might have been for that, I was going to ask them about them when I went for my first scan once I had started the injections so thank you for answering that for me Smile

Thank you so much, I'm so excited, I don't know how my family haven't noticed me floating around the house!! x

@SoNewToThis please can you keep us updated with your journey with ABC ☺️ I've just booked my scan and initial consultation xxx

SoNewToThis · 17/10/2020 19:18

@JadeS174 I will do, I've just done my first injection of Bemfola! I hope everything goes well on your scan and consult, you'll have to let us know too xxx

@SoNewToThis thank you!
How did you find the injection? Hope it was okay xxx

SoNewToThis · 17/10/2020 20:48

@JadeS174 I was really worried about it because it looked scary once I had taken the cap off and I'm not keen on needles! Once I had taken a few deep breaths I was calm though, and the worst part was definitely breaking the skin. It was only a small pinch though, after that the needle went in easily and the actual medicine didn't sting Smile I'm relieved and not worried about tomorrow's injection now!! xxx

@SoNewToThis I'm glad it wasn't too bad. I'm a nurse and needles don't really bother me but I guess it's different having to inject myself 😝 xx

Hi @SoNewToThis can I ask how your journey at ABC went? Thank you

SoNewToThis · 11/02/2021 09:22

@Fingerscrossed2021 Hi! I absolutely love them, and will hopefully be visiting again in the future. They were amazing the whole time, and catered to my individual circumstances.
Once I started my cycle it went well. I had appointments every two days and my nurse was so kind to me. I didn't get on with any of the medication but I'm really sensitive to it so had a bad reaction compared to most.
Once I had enough eggs at the right size I got booked in for egg collection, and the recovery team were so kind when I came to. I had complications during egg collection but again that's my body hating anything remotely modern!! Grin
They then kept me updated over the weekend about my embryos and I went in for a 3 day transfer. I asked for my nurse to do the transfer instead of the doctor and it went well.
I'm now 16+6, and found out a couple of days ago that it's a little boy! I have an embryo in storage too so hopefully in the future I can have a frozen cycle.

I would definitely recommend the clinic based on my experiences. Everyone is different but for me they made me feel so welcome and gave me the best possible start to my pregnancy

If there's anything you want to know that I didn't answer let me know Smile x

Hi @SoNewToThis thank you so much for your reply. I am so pleased for you, that’s amazing news! Which abc clinic did you have your treatment? I have booked my initial scan and consultation for next month so I’m looking forward to that. Would you mind if I asked what led you to ivf in the first place? Thank you x

SoNewToThis · 11/02/2021 10:00

@Fingerscrossed2021 I had my consultation and treatment at Bristol. I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything goes well for you! I'm single and it was the right time for me, but I didn't want to just have a baby with anyone! This way I also got to do egg sharing, so I've been able to give my eggs to another family to give them a chance for a baby too Grin x

That’s a wonderful thing to do. I have read a little bit about egg sharing on their website. Thank you for your kind wishes. I’m sure they’ll be something else I think of to ask you at some point. I have so many questions lol x
