Hysteroscopy

Hi all, just wondering if anyone is awaiting a hysteroscopy on the NHS? I've been put on the waiting list but they have no idea how long it is due to getting through back log of covid. Wondering whether to wait it out or look in to going privately.
THanks :)

Hello! I could have written this post myself as I'm in the exact same situation.
I had previously (June) decided to bite the billet and go private, but was thwarted by potential polyp/ fibroid indenting the uterine cavity in my 2nd unltrasound, performed by the consultant at the private clinic. To cut a long story short, we finally got a response from my nhs consultant confirming a hysto would be needed - I'm now in the list with no view if timescales. I reached out to my private consultant, who has suggested a private MRI to confirm the findings... this is a significantly cheaper option £200-300ish compared to £2000-3000ish of hysto). If there is no indent, I can progress with ivf, but if there is, we can use results to try and get me prioritised for hysto + operation. If I wait for hysto, if what they find is more than a polyp, I'd then need to wait AGAIN for a hysto + op. Depending on what they think they have found, you could potentially also use the MRI option, to save time and money?

thanks for your response! NHS didn't say anything about an MRI just wanted me to go straight for hysteroscopy and polyp removal. Think I am just going to go for private consultation and see what they say, I am getting fed up of being placed from waiting list to waiting list! Although I understand the impact Covid has had on everything on the NHS :-(

Are you going to go for the MRI do you think?

I felt so much better after private referral - I'm in the exact same position! I can actually speak to someone about options now, and she is amazing - she's helped me so much even knowing my nhs rounds are likely to come up soon so I likely won't progress with private yet. My nhs referral to a fertility clinic happened a whole year ago - and I'm yet to be contacted Envyit's been so long, that today I got a letter from the gynae clinic for an additional consultation! I thought it was my hysto - but alas, it's just a talk. MRI has never been mentioned to me on nhs; I wonder if it's because the machine is needed for so many other things?
Yep I have given the green light for the MRI; same as you, I have no view on when the hysto would be, and just need to feel like I'm doing something. I hope you get seen as quickly as possible :)

Hi All, was there any update on waiting for your procedures on the NHS?
