Lump in lubion injection site

Help!

I’m on my second day of lubion (progesterone) injections and as I was trying to inject it just felt like the fluid wasn’t going in at all. So I took the needle out and reinserted it in a different place (probably a huge mistake, but I wasn’t really thinking clearly - I know I should have changed needles) and managed to inject it ok. But as I took out the needle there was blood in the syringe, blood as I pulled the needle out, and a big lump on my stomach where I did the injection.

Is this ok?

I have this quite often and the nurses told me it was fine. I'm currently sat with a big lump of lubion in my stomach and it really hurts. It will slowly absorb. I have hit a little vein a few times as well and it really bleeds- then the next day I will have a massive bruise. I often put the needle in and when it really hurts I quickly put it somewhere else. Never thought about having to swap needles. Lubion can be really sore. For me I have to do it as slow as possible. It can feel like the liquid doesn't go in- I think it's because it's oil based.
I'm sure it isn't a problem and you will be fine but you can always check with your clinic tomorrow. Good luck xxx

Thanks @Matilda128 that’s a relief to know it’s somewhat normal. It takes ages for the liquid to go in, although it really felt “stuck” on the first attempt and really didn’t move at all! I forgot how painful the lubion is - I sleep on my front usually but can’t with these injections as it’s too sore!

Where about are you in your fertility journey?

I had it once where the liquid really didn't go in and when I put the needle somewhere else it was fine- I wonder what causes that? I also find it weird that with my first 2 IVF rounds I had no bruises but now with my third and upcoming FET it constantly bleeds, hurts and leaves nasty marks. I have three more days of lubion and then my transfer. Never had any pregnancy success so I'm trying to be realistic but not too pessimistic. I hope your injection went fine today. Xxx

Hi @Matilda128 is your FET on Thursday then? Mine too! Haven’t done today’s injection yet, I do mine about 9.30.

Best of luck for your cycle! Let me know how you get on!

No idea why sometimes the injection seems to not go in - it’s so odd! Yes to the bruising, mine is terrible already.

Yes Thursday! I have to do my Lubion twice a day so I'm quickly running out of space with all the bruises. I hope everything goes really well for you! Fingers crossed! 🤞xxx

Where are you having your transfer done? I’m at the LWC in Cardiff. Ouch twice a day - your stomach must be a pain cushion!
