Buying IVF meds - shopping around?

Hi, i remember back along seeing lots of people recommending asda pharmacy etc for IVF meds. Its my first time and I'm wondering if I should go with my clinic's pharmacy or shop around. Is it worth it? We're deep in our overdraft so saving money would be great, but also don't want to cause myself a giant stress as life is stressful enough doing IVF in a pandemic!

Hi Sylva, it can't hurt to ask the prices.
I couldn't get my meds from Asda as my treatment was abroad but I got them pretty cheaply from Fertility2u.

I've started a thread where people can put actual prices and where they bought their drugs so people can see the prices.

I got mine from Asda, but be careful your clinic doesn't try to charge you a private prescription fee as mine tried to, for £250. For writing the details on a piece of paper. I complained and didn't pay. Asda were £400 cheaper than Stork.

Mine came from fertility2u and from Stork

To be honest it wasn't much difference in price and saved on the stress and hassle which was priceless

I second asking about clinic prescription fee - I was charged a ridiculous amount for levothyroxine (should have been about £8, I paid over £30!). BUT if it is for a bulk order of all your meds then Stork and Fertility2u does take the stress out of it. If you are getting from Asda, make sure the syringes are included (if they are needed on your protocol, some meds come in pre-filled pen) as I recall that they were missed off for a poster on a previous thread

I got mine from a local pharmacy. They ordered them in. It saved me a lot of money. I don't know if certain clinics try to rip you off more than others, but I got prices for both and there was quite a difference. You just need to make sure you give yourself a bit of time for them to come in. Took about a week

Actually I should adjust my post ot say FET meds just in case it makes a difference

Yes that's a point, make sure the prescription details the sharps and a sharps bin if you get the written prescription to fill yourself.
