Menopur help

This is the second night I have used this drug and I am supposed to mix 1.5ml of saline to 5 vials of menopur. But for some reason by the time I get to the 5th vial, I end up with 1ml. I don’t know why because I haven’t had any spillages but this happened last night too. Am I doing something wrong?

We had to do the same and although we would always end up with less than 1.5 ml- it wouldn't go down to 1 (more like 1.3 or something). What is really difficult is to get all the liquid out of the vials. I get shaky hands so my partner prepares the injections and we have had so many arguments about the amount left after drawing up. I demand he does it again and he points out its only a tiny amount. I win but I'm terrible. What really helped us is using empty vials and just practicing. Also when you swap needles- draw back a bit to make sure there isn't medicine left in the needle you take off. I also stopped checking the amount before injecting because that only made me paranoid. Thanks for your reply @Matilda128 I rang the clinic and they didn’t seem to concerned! I am worried though as half a mill is a lot an I just can’t understand where it’s gone haha. Like you, we were nearly arguing over the dregs in each vial hahaha but I’m so sure we done it right it’s really strange! Hope you had success with your cycle 😊

The first round they told us 5 vials with 1ml so when we started using 1.5ml with the second and the third round I just kept telling myself the little bits left were at least less concentrated I also read research that suggests there is not much benefit to going beyond 300 iu which also made me a bit calmer about it all. On the 3rd round we got 4 blastocysts to freeze and I'm now preparing for a medicated FET. So we are now arguing about getting the right dose of a different medication (Burserelin). This drove me crazy during my first cycle. I had to do 6 vials of the stuff. In my case it was because I was being a bit of a perfectionist with the tiniest of bubbles and was losing it trying to expel them. I got better at it and discovered that the really tiny bubbles are not actually a problem. I remember it really stressed me out for the first couple. Gonal f was much easier for round 2! Good luck x

Are you using the refrigerated Menopur or the little vials that you break?
I was pretty rubbish at both kinds to be fair!
First time using the vials I used the 150iu ones but they have apparently been out of stock for a while so had to double up on the 75iu ones.
When I mentioned that to a consultant doing my scan he said he never bothered prescribing the 150iu anyway. I thought that was so crap that they wouldn't just prescribe what was needed to make a woman's life easier during IVF.

Thanks for the responses guys I’m actually feeling a little bit better. I’ve come to realise it’s going to be slightly under the 1.5 mil for whatever reason and trying not to stress about it! Found little ways of making it easier so I feel a bit more confident now xx

@SpyroC that’s me, I can be a bit of a perfectionist too but I’ve tried to settle down a bit as the clinic didn’t seem too concerned when I rang them! Plus worse case scenario, I’ll have to stim a bit longer, not the end of the world.

@JeNeBaguetteRien I’m using vials but they are stored in the fridge! I know, all I keep saying is why have they made this mixing up process so bloody difficult for us women! Like we haven’t got enough to deal with. Just put it in a bloody pre mixed pen x
