COVID second wave

With all this news about numbers being on the rise again is anyone else worried we’re going to be cancelled again?

My initial apt for ivf was cancelled in March and now I’m finally supposed to be able to start in Oct/Nov after endless waiting lists. I don’t think I can cope with this being cancelled again 😕.

Has anyone been told anything by their clinics within the last couple of weeks? Do they in general seem to think they can carry on with measures in place?

@OhPeanuts in the same boat. My clinic are currently saying even if restrictions worsen hospital appointments shouldn't be affected, I'm just hoping things don't end up so we go into a full lockdown again as I don't know if it would still be the case then.

I understand the worry and actually wrote a message to HFEA on Twitter today to ask if they could comment on this. I don't think they will close clinics again even with another lockdown. When this happened in March they gave multiple reasons (risk in early pregnancy and strain on the NHS) but they didn't say it was down to lockdown because they allowed clinics to stay open until mid-april well into lockdown. HFEA explained at the time that they set the 16th of April as a date as you are allowed to attend medical treatment under lockdown rules which according to them included IVF treatment. But individual (NHS) clinics might still choose to close. Even though treatment should be done in such a way the risk is minimal so an increase of cases should not make a difference. I was so anxious and stressed when the clinics closed- it was an awful time- I really hope that this time they can give us clearer information. X

I am worried about this too. I am literally just entering a long protocol cycle so ec will be Oct/Nov. I figured we can't keep putting it off as this virus isn't going away anytime soon. I think it's unlikely but you never know...common sense seems to be in short supply at the moment!

It's such a worry isn't it. I'm worried about treatment being stopped because of me/a family member getting symptoms and not being able to get a test.

I asked my clinic about this (st Mary's in Manchester) and they said they had plans in place to not have to close if there was a second wave.

Thank you all, at least it seems most places are saying the same sort of thing for now so fingers crossed for us all!
