Hello Lovely People,

I am new to Mumsnet and hoping I can find some advise on here to help us with our fertility treatment journey. I am 25 years old and have PCOS and my partner is 31. We was referred back in November 2019 on the NHS however it was done incorrectly, fast forward to today.. we have been referred 4 times and not any further along with starting our treatment and now with Covid we are now experiencing a longer wait to be seen for our first consultation.

We have looked online at going private for treatment however all the information is very overwhelming and confusing, there are several options and I’m unsure on what is the best way forward.

I would appreciate any suggestions/personal experiences to help me get the ball rolling again with our treatment Smile

Thank You xx

Hi hun, sorry to hear your having to go down this route.

We too were entitled to NHS care but not until we had been trying for 2 years even though we have male factor, which would have took us to October this year. I was reluctant to wait as I work in the NHS and as much as I love it, I know the waiting lists we have in my department due to covid so can only imagine what its like in fertility, so we decided to go private. We were lucky we came in to some money otherwise it probs wouldn’t have been possible.

We are with the Lister in london and just finished our first cycle. Unfortunately it ended in a chemical but they are super quick and could initially start treatment on my next period so it seems they have no waiting list.

Obviously I cant speak for other clinics but if you have any other questions I can try and help. We also decided to pay for a multi cycle package through Access fertility - have you looked in to this?

Xx

@Nobunintheovenyet Hello Lovely,

Thank you for sharing your personal experience. I too work for the NHS and can see it from both sides but has in a way helped me make the decision to look into going down the private route.

Thank you also for your suggestion. I will look into this, id ideally like to be referred to a fertility clinical local to me but at the end of the day id be happy to be seen anywhere at the moment. Would you say you have experienced much of a wait time with going privately?

Good luck on your fertility journey Smile xx

@Ladylou95

When we started treatment there was no wait at all, only had to wait for my period to come so it was based on where I was in my cycle on that day and that couldn't be avoided.

I’m having to wait 2 weeks for my follow up consultation but nothing can be done in these two weeks anyway. Other than that they are very efficient. Never wait long to be scanned or for bloods.

Have you looked at clinics close to you? I found the price can vary dramatically x
