Normal AMH - 3 eggs collected 1 mature

Hi guys looking for some help,

This isn’t a sad story because although we only got 1 egg from out ivf egg collection we are actually currently in our TWW with a very healthy embryo inside me hopfully cuddling in. I’m really trying to understand why with being 24 normal AMH why we only got 3 eggs! 1 good one.
Our first round was cancelled due to not responding to 225 menopur and this round I went up to 300 menopur and it seems on egg collection we just got the egg I would of normally ovulated it doesn’t seem like my body responded at all to the drugs! Has anyone experienced this? What helped for you? Hopfully this embryo sticks but I want more babies in the future so trying to find out what went wrong for the future xxxx

What’s your AFC count? It may be that you just don’t respond to that particular drug which can happen. I’m following with interest ! Fingers crossed for you xx

Do you know what your FSH levels are? Maybe they are high and therefore you don't respond so well to stimulation? The good news is at least whatever eggs they collect are likely to be chromosomally normal.

My AMH was 13 and follicle count 14, but I only got 2 eggs at collection. I'm 40, though, and think my FSH is on the high side of normal so I'm assuming that's why my ovaries didn't respond very well to the drugs (450 mg Menopur).

Also I am in the TWW from my one egg that fertilised normally, did they transfer yours on day 2? I had a day 2 transfer on sunday. I certainly feel like I've got all my eggs in one basket!

SAHX · 10/09/2020 12:28

79andnoout - Yeah mine was transferred on day 2 ❤️ How you feeling? Is it your first transfer? It’s my first

My FSH was normal all my tests came back normal my amh came back at 7 first then randomly 16.8 so maybe it is more on the low side and for the next baby (I’m saying this because I’m being so hopful for this embryo) they will probs have to put my drugs right up and add some other things to get my follicles going.

@SAHX yeah my AMH has jumped around too, between 7-13, over the last three years. 13 was the latest reading!

Yeah this is my first transfer. The transfer itself was horrific as my cervix is tiny and they had to do all sorts of manipulations to get the catheter in, but otherwise everything has been fine. I've found the whole thing pretty straightforward.

I have sore boobs and some mild sensations going on in the womb area, but I literally have the same thing the two weeks before my period normally, so again, I don't really feel any different to usual. I think that's just my normal reaction to progesterone.

When is your test date? Mine is 19th.

SAHX · 10/09/2020 14:12

@79andnotout yeah it’s crazy how it changes!
I have those symptoms already now aswell I think it’s defo the progesterone.

My test day is the 23rd so not far behind you!

Let me know how it does xx

Yep will do @SAHX! Enjoy the TWW :)

SAHX · 10/09/2020 14:14

@JandL2020 what’s that? Not sure Iv had that test but all my tests have been normal, I need to have a chat with the consultant and figure that out but hopfully won’t have to worry about it for a long while xx

SAHX · 10/09/2020 14:40

I would change to a natural modified IVF protocol - rather than forcing your body to work really hard to produce lots of eggs which is obviously struggling to do and which could lower the quality focus on 1 or 2 follicles - sometimes quality over quantity is best

(I'm 16 weeks with twins from natural modified ivf from the cycle where I only got 2 eggs - compared to multiple previous cycles where forcing my body to produce loads of eggs just led to rubbish quality)

SAHX · 10/09/2020 17:18

@ivfbeenbusy I like this idea tbh seeing as I only got the egg I was gunna ovulate anyway! It was an amazing egg though so fingers crossed xxx
