Inositol success?

I've been diagnosed with PCOS recently and after some research decided to give inositol a try.

I've been taking the supplement powder for about 3 months now and have had for the first time in two years two cycles of 28/29 days consecutively. I don't know if it's just coincidence but it seems hopeful!

Has anyone ever taken this and had any success regulating their cycle?

Hi @ICSI,
I've been taking it for about 2 years (I also have PCOS). I found that 2000 mg per day don't really have any effect on my cycles but there was definitely a change when I started taking 4000 mg per day. Inositol is also supposed to help with egg quality so I think it's definitely worth a try.

What helped me the most though is metformin - this is a prescription drug so you would need to discuss with your doctor first.

@Azahar8 thank you! I'm taking about 2000mg at the moment but might up it if it stops working.

Did your doctor prescribe Metformin as part of the IVF process? We have been told we will need IVF with ICSI as there are problems on DH's side as well

My doctor prescribed Metformin because I have insulin resistance and problems with my blood sugar levels (which is common in people with PCOS). Getting these under control has also helped regulate my cycles. My blood tests showed that I ovulate but we have been referred to a fertility clinic due to problems on my DH's side, so quite similar to you! We are still waiting for our initial appointment so I don't know what the doctors' advice will be regarding Metformin during IVF, but I imagine they will ask me to stop it when we get to that stage.
Good luck with your treatment! xx

Hi, I've been taking myo inositol for about 6 weeks and I've noticed a difference. This month my period came early! I take metformin too but I've still been having upto 35 day cycles on it so I think inositol does do something personally. Recently had an ivf consultation and the consultant actually said there is no evidence it does anything but not harm in carrying on taking it. But he seemed quite convinced it was pointless lol

@Azahar8 btw I've been told I can carry on taking the metformin.

Thanks @cosmo30, that's good to know!
