Hi, I'm 40 and still waiting on our NHS ivf cycle which seems to be constantly pushed back. We are considering bypassing the NHS and paying private and MIL is suggesting her home country of Nigeria.
We have no experience if anyone personally going through IVF let alone abroad so was wondering if people on here have been successful and how we go about researching?
Was anyone successful abroad and if so why did you opt away from the UK private clinics other than money?

I've done 5 rounds of IVF but all In the U.K. but what I would say is that people who tend to go abroad go to the EU and the famous/well renound clinics - Spain, Czech Rep etc. I would be wary of going to Nigeria if it isn't a world famous centre for fertility treatment? Most people I know who have gone abroad it has been flights of a couple of hours tops - IVF process is gruelling and stressful and multiple trips is easier to Europe than it would be to Nigeria

My cousin had her IVF in India. She went out there and stayed with family for the duration of her treatment and it worked successfully for her, she has a little boy now.

Her main reason for going to India was that both the NHS clinic and private clinics in the UK said she wouldn't able be able to get pregnant even with IVF because of her issues with endometriosis and PCOS. Her first round in India was successful, and she used her own eggs/husbands sperm.

She is planning on going back for future treatment for a sibling. I would say, use a recommendation though and dont just pick a random clinic. The one she went for was one that others she knows have used so came with personal recommendations as to their professionalism.
