Low progesterone

Hello! My husband and I have recently been referred to commence fertility testing, so far I’ve had my day 21 bloods (done on day 22 due to weekend) and my husband has his sperm analysis next week.

I was told my results were all “normal” however when I asked more into this the receptionist said the dr noted my progesterone was borderline, at only 19.7. I’ve done a bit of research and this seems to be really low for post ovulation? I’m a bit confused and don’t really know what next steps to take? x

Hi, how long are your cycles? The cd21 is ideally done 7 days before your period. I have short cycles, so went on cd19. It could be it was on the wrong day, but it might be you need it doing again?

After we'd had these tests our go referred us to the fertility clinic and I had more investigations like a scan and hsg (checking the tubes). Good luck

How long are your cycles?.

Doctors usually like to see a level of 30 or over to prove ovulation happened that month.

The day 21 is only part of it; you should also ideally have a day 2 test done to compare your LH (luteinising hormone) level against that of FSH (follicle stimulation hormone). If these are awry then ovulation can be affected. The tests that you've had done to date will likely be repeated at the subferility dept in hospital so you're better off being under their care now.
