Egg collection - no sedation

Hi, the private clinic I'm using is using Covid as an excuse/reason not to sedate women for egg collection atm. They're just giving gas and air and some pain relief. I personally struggle with a smear test so I know I won't manage and I'm worried about it a ridiculous amount. Just wondering if all private clinics were the same?

My first ec was when the pandemic was just starting to become serious and my second a few weeks ago. Both times I had sedation. I do remember the first time being told the anaesthetists would be going to help with Covid at the end of the week but they are back now. I would check you are getting what you paid for as the sedation is costly. I know some clinics don't routinely do sedation any way (not for me!).

I had egg collection with a private clinic six weeks ago & had deep sedation with an anaesthetist present. I don’t think I’d be willing to do it awake!

Personally I wouldn't be happy with this - I'm with Create - usually have egg collection at Birmingham but once had to go to St Paul's for egg collection and found out afterwards they only give 1/2 the sedation was they want you in and out quicker and it wasn't very nice at all. I had egg collection as soon as clinics reopened at Birmingham and had full sedation no problems

I had my first appointment with my clinic last week (NHS funded but I'm at Create). My egg collection will be under sedation.

Oh god.
My egg collection was with midazolam and they called it conscious sedation (which I guess just means you're not totally knocked out, but not aware either). I remember nothing off the collection apart from waking up at the end because apparently he drained an endometrioma and it hurt like hell. I would not be doing it awake, I'd rather find another clinic.
