IUI question

I'm due to have my first IUI cycle with Clomid. With COVID had all phone consultations and not much information.
Had a question regarding DTD... how often did people DTD during a IUI cycle. I know they advise to abstain 2-days before insemination.
I don't want to waste the days in the lead up... anything to increase our chances.
Any tips/advise from others who have been the process would be greatly appreciated too.

I wanted to reply as when I went through IUI there didn't seem to be any posts about it! I had IUI with clomid and menopur back in February. I had follicle tracking scans on CD 6 and 10. We DTD on CD12 then had a scan on CD13. After the scan on CD13 we were then given instructions on when to take the trigger shot and they booked us in for the actual IUI on CD15 (we then abstained). My DH had to give his sample at 1pm and I then had it inserted at 3pm (the washed sample was actually pink so don't let that throw you). I had to lie down for 10 minutes afterwards. We both had the day off work which I'm glad we did. I felt very crampy afterwards and had lots of leg ache for the next few days. I also picked up the next prescription of clomid so that I could go straight into the next cycle. We also DTD the next day on CD16 for luck. To my surprise it actually worked and I'm now 27 weeks pregnant. Good luck OP, I hope it all goes well for you! If you have any questions then please ask!

I had my second follicle monitoring scan today and due to have the insemintation on Wednesday. We DTD last night but now think we'll will hold off then try once more day after insemination.
With COVID found the whole process stressful, and I've been going to all the appointments alone. Trying to relax a bit as I know it won't help
I've taken the day off of insemination, guessing there will be cramping after. I took 2-3 days to recover from the HSG.

@DisneyGirl2387 aww thanks so much, ive just got home after the procedure. Wasnt half as bad as i thought it would be, took literally 10 mins and i was out. Spotting a bit now but i usually do after a speculum exam. Thanks so much for all your advise, it was all really helpful.
Was totally mentally prepared to see a pink sample, but didnt actually get to see it lol.
OH is out with the boys tonight so chilled peacefully evening for me. Might get him to bring me home food before he goes out.
