Thrush before FET

Due to transfer our last remaining frostie on Tuesday after a COVID delay earlier this year. This isn’t my first rodeo (although had had one successful pregnancy) but first time with thrush.

My clinic doesn’t have an out of hours Hmm and I’m so desperate (awake all night itching) I’ve used the Canestan internal and external cream today.

I’ve fucked the cycle haven’t I? I know that difulcan tablets are a no no and chose the internal cream as that’s what I was prescribed when pregnant (much later on- I thought the discharge was mucus plug).

I’m pretty sure my cycle can’t happen either way, because of taken the cream, but also wouldn’t go ahead anyways because of the thrush. I couldn’t go all weekend itching like that though.

Bollocks.

Are you sure you can't take the tablet form
Before the transfer since you've got a few days?

Also have you don't one of those self diagnosing kits from Boots and 100% sure it's thrush? I used to get thrush like symptoms after IVF cycles due to the gel they use on the internal probe setting me off and whenever I've done the test to check if it's thrush it's come back negative so clearly just a reaction to the gel?

Also here is a link for a study on using Canestan a week before transfer and this suggested it was fine to take

Thanks for replying. I had a ‘canetest’ but my understanding was the swan only diagnoses Bacterial vaginosis, if the swab doesn’t change colour and you’ve still got symptoms it’s an assumed thrush? Unless there’s a different test over the counter?

I’ve had loads of discharge with the Progynova but now I’m sore and swollen and itching. Not had this in previous cycles.

Thanks for the link, I’ll take a read xx

I've read about other clinics saying that diflucan was ok too if a few days before transfer so better to take it sooner rather than later? - I know how uncomfortable it can make you and at least the tablet one seems to nuke it within 24 hours x

Hi OP, I came down with thrush the day before EC in our cycle back in January. I obviously told the doc and she was happy to go ahead with the EC, much to my surprise. Told me to take the internal canestan tablet the night after EC and to absolutely not take the oral diflucan as ET wouldn't be able to go ahead if I did (it never flipping works for me anyway, so there was no danger of that!). I used the canestan, had the ET as scheduled and all was well. The doc cleans the cervix before ET anyway, so the canestan isn't a problem. Hope this helps.

Thanks @ivfdreaming and @BambiOnIce80.

Much better night not awake all night itching although sore and tender still. I did my cyclogest rectally to give my bits a rest and now my piles are bleeding Confused. Maybe I’m super sensitive to the pessarries ( I’ve had spotting/ squashed blueberry like bleeding with all my cycles).

Emotional wreck today. What with the Covid delay and everything I thought I was ready but not sure I’m am. Not helped by the whole world seems to be pregnant with their second. So, so lucky to have our toddler.
