Private ivf and smoking test

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if they do the smoking test if you're privately funding ivf? I know they do on the nhs.
I am in the process of quitting before asking for a consultation but worried I'm going to find it hard. And I'm worried they are going to turn me away.
I really want to quit, it's a vicious circle as I get depressed about not conceiving and reach for the cigs.
Would appreciate if anyone has any information of what they expect through private ivf regarding lifestyle factors

Smoking test? I never had that (unless it was done without me knowing) and I'm having my nhs round.

Oh! Maybe it's different in certain areas then. I know some definitely do it, they use a breathiliser to check your carbon monoxide levels or something

Oh wow. Strange how every area is different.

The midwife checks ur breath for carbon monoxide when your pregnant but I’ve been NHS and privet for IVF and never had a smoking test.. x

Yes had it when pregnant. But from what I've been reading, some old threads on here people say nhs deffo do it for ivf too. I'm guessing it's different going private as it's your own money you're spending but sure it's encouraged to stop, quite rightly so too

I wasn't tested for smoking on the NHS. It must just vary from area to area.

Not sure but wanted to give you some helpful advice. I quit my 18 year 20 a day habit three months ago as starting fertility treatment myself soon.

I used "Alan Carr's Easyway to Quit Smoking" (not Alan Carr the comedian!). I'd recommend listening to the audio book which is available on audible. Haven't had a single one in tree months and feel so happy to be free. Good luck

@tryingtostop I have never heard of this for private IVF, but I have for NHS rounds. It's also done by one clinic (that I know of) for egg sharers. I'm a vaper on a very low % nicotine but also planning on stopping before treatment starts. Good luck, I know how hard it is! X

Thanks for the replies. I have ordered the book too! Although hoping to stop before it arrives, will that matter much as it says to carry on smoking while reading it?
Also, does anyone have any experience of using access fertility?
