Morphology results

Hi All,

This is my first post but I am super confused and hoping someone on here has been in the same situation as me...

So we have been TTC for a year and a half now. Both healthy 27-year-olds.

My blood tests and ultrasound were fine, no issues.

My OH originally had 2 semen analysis tests. All results were fine apart from morphology. The first test was 0.5%, the second was 0% so when we were referred to the fertility specialist we assumed IVF would be the way forward...

However, they repeated his test for their records and his morphology came back as 4 % which is the lower limit or normal...

Now I have no idea what is going to happen...

Any advice would be great!

My DH had 2 and the first was slightly below average and the second low end of normal. Our consultant was not concerned about it and said it's not a problem as long as the numbers and motility are good as 40% of millions is still a lot of sperm. The 0% would be an issue though so it's great it's gone up. Subsequently we've been through 2 rounds of ivf and the numbers varied which the consultant said is normal. Sperm seems to vary a lot! Annoyingly our clinic don't look at morphology for the ivf so I don't know the percentages for the last 2 but there was clearly no issue as we had excellent fertilisation rates. Perhaps they will do a 3rd test to check it stays up. I hope you get a positive outcome and don't need ivf. X

My DH sperm tests results fluctuate loads month to month - the only thing which has stayed constant is the overall count. We have had 5 rounds of IVF so get his sperm results after each one - some months it's been 2% some it's even been 6%, the lowest was 1% but that was the sample he had to do at home due to covid.

Given your age if he's had a 4% test result
I'd maybe try naturally a little longer?

DH s first sample was 0% normal morphology and he never had to do a second sample as I fell pregnant naturally 2 months later (after a year and a half of trying). The morphology can vary massively over the 3 months between tests as sperm take that long to mature and are affected by diet, temperature, stress etc. Has he made any recent lifestyle changes as they sound as though they could be working?
