We have been trying to conceive for 2 years, after 20 years taking the pill. In the past couple of months l have had copious amounts of EWCM, the most in my life. Period pain before period starts (never had this before either?). For most of the last 2 years l have had brownish discharge pre-period for a few days. Last few months some light pink/red spotting then straight into period.

Is all of this good signs, bad signs or nothing?!

Neither good nor bad. As long as it's 'normal' for you - there is a HUGE range for cycles that are all fertile. In and of itself, nothing you've said sounds indicative of anything.

More invasive/indicative medical tests would be needed to tell you anything.

@physicskate we have had a range of tests privately and NHS. Also had 5 cycles of Clomid and 1 round of IVF.

The insightful advice from the clinic is one or both of us have issues. I could have worked that out myself a year or so ago Confused

Do you actually have a diagnosis of the underlying problem, it seems not. What were the reasons for them going straight from clomid to IVF as well; this was a mighty big jump.

It may be that you are not ovulating regularly; spotting can be an indicator of this.

I would certainly look into attending a further clinic rather than the one you previously attended. Not all private treatment is good by any means and its fair to say some clinics are better than others.

@AttilaTheMeerkat no. We were “unexplained infertility” which obviously isn’t a proper diagnosis. The latest offering is “one or both of us have issues”.

Clinic 1 were private local to us, recommended by a friend and did some tests on us both. Found no issues
NHS doctor prescribed the Clomid after finding no issues (think this was to placate us as NICE guidelines say it’s not suitable for unexplained). He then referred us to a private London clinic for 1 cycle of IVF which paid for by the NHS. Again initial test results were good -sperm, AMH etc. Got 18 eggs, ended up with 5 5 day blastocysts. 2 transferred and failed. Other 3 were genetically analysed and were all abnormal. Clinics answer is do more IVF

So yeah we have in effect been to 3 places but still no clarity about our issues. A bit of lazy hinting about our ages being the issues (we were 36 and 38 when we started all of this)
