Bleeding on day 7 of Progynova

Hi all, currently on day 9 of an FET (first one!). I've been taking Progynova since day 2 as instructed (2mg three times a day). Yesterday I started bleeding - definitely more than spotting, its properly red, and it's been consistent for almost 24 hours now. Anyone else had this and gone on to complete the cycle!? My clinic have just said to carry on taking it anyway, but it's a bit disheartening!

@PineappleC on this page www.medicines.org.uk/emc/product/1417/pil it says that a bit of bleeding is normal.

PineappleC · 21/07/2020 18:03

Thanks @Katbecool 😊 I really hope it's just a bit, at the moment it's like a light-to-medium day of AF with some light dull cramps too. 🤷‍♀️

I bet you're looking forward to your start date now! Great plan to go to Mexico too - I wish I'd combined mine with a bit of beach relaxation! Xx

Hey @PineappleC how did this go? Hope you got to transfer 🤞🏻 Xx

PineappleC · 04/08/2020 18:39

Hey @jaxcharlie, the bleeding stopped after about 2 days, scan found no reason for it, but clinic said that actually i wasn't the only one who this has happened to. Have you had bleeding too? Hope not 🤞

My lining was a bit thin because of it (6.6mm) but all triple lined, looked good etc. They gave me 4 extra days on Progynova, after which lining was just over 7mm, so hoping to transfer on Thurs 🤞🤞

Thanks for asking and good luck for your process 😊🤞

@PineappleC ooooh how exciting that your transfer might be tomorrow! Keeping everything crossed that all goes to plan 🤞🏻

Yes had spotting for a few days but this is not unusual for me, but bit more on & off yesterday. Don’t have our scan until Monday so I’m hoping it will stop soon!!! Obviously it is one of the side effects of the drugs but difficult to know how much is ok.

Let us know how you get on... wishing you all the luck for tomorrow x

Just in case anyone is reading this later and has the same issues...This cycle ended in a BFP 🎉 Early days, but obviously this wasn't game over from the bleeding.
I would mention though that my body clearly wasn't absorbing the Progynova as effectively as others. My body also had severe issues absorbing progesterone and my levels were almost zero on the pessaries alone. So I would recommend anyone with these issues to make sure your progesterone is checked too!

That’s great news!! Congratulations 🥳 xxx

@Needtotalkivf19 thank you so much 😊 Very early days though so feeling very very cautious at the moment xxx

@PineappleC massive congratulations!
I am so glad you posted this. So my last failed iui, they had me on progesterone suppositories as well and my level was 1.61. And I wondered why it wasn't absorbing. The consultant said that I just needed to do it 3x a day instead of once. Uhm, no. Even from once a day it shouldn't be this low. I'm glad to know I'm not alone whose stupid body is being stupid. I had better response with the oral. But now I am getting the feeling that I'm definitely going to be needing injections, I don't know what I'm gonna do, the needle is so huge. What did you end up doing to raise your levels?

PineappleC · 18/08/2020 11:15

@KatBeCool thanks so much 😊 Very early days so just hoping and praying it stays around!

I had my prog level tested on transfer day and my levels were 7 - severely low. I was meant to start injections asap but due to a cockup with the clinic didn't get them until 4 days later. In that 4 days, I just took loads of pessaries (although I don't think this is recommended, I just thought at that stage I had nothing to lose!)
4 days after I started the injections, my levels had risen to 119. Tbh I don't think the pessaries did very much for me and the rise was almost all down to the injections. Don't worry about the needle, it really doesn't hurt as much as you'd think, but I would recommend getting someone else to do it (the one time I did it alone I was too hesitant, so it hurt more!)

I really hope your cycle works this time, you really deserve it 🤞🤞🤞

@PineappleC my DH already proclaimed that he won't do it because he's worried he'll do it wrong. So I'm on my own. I wish my dogs were coordinated enough. I was reading there's such thing as "auto injector", I will have to get that. How many embryos did they put in?

jaxcharlie · 18/08/2020 15:45

@PineappleC Huge congratulations!!! Glad it all worked out in the end x

PineappleC · 18/08/2020 17:44

Thanks so much @jaxcharlie , I really appreciate you saying that 😊. Feels very surreal and I won't quite believe it until the first scan! I really hope yours works out this cycle too 🤞🤞xx

@KatBeCool ah that's a shame! They can't really go too wrong, as long as you watch a good Youtube video which explains where to target. If you are doing it yourself, I would just recommend doing it quite "confidently" - i.e. the more you hesitate the harder it is. I know that's easier said than done but honestly it's really not as bad as the size of the needle suggests!

I had one put back in. We were going to do 2, but I wasn't too confident about this cycle given all the bleeding so didn't want to waste too many if my lining was the issue. Glad I stuck with 1 now!
