Clomid

Hey ladies

Just wanted to start a thread as I'm aware there are so many that are in the same boat with regards to infertility.

A little bit about me. I am in a same sex relationship and have been trying to conceive for a year. We have a private gyne who prescribed me 100mg of clomid because I do not ovulate (my progesterone levers were 1.2 )

We are doing home insemination with frozen 'magic potien' as myself and my wife like to call it.

We had a follicle scan at day 12 which showed a dominant follicle (15mm)

I am currently on cycle day 14 but still no sign of a positive OPK strip and just feeling a little deflated.

My question would be when have you had your positive opk and is it possible I can still ovulate even on day 14 or later

Thanks so much :) xx

It's very possible for you to ovulate later than cd 14.

Would they consider offering a 'trigger' shot?

I can't offer any advice as not started my clomid journey yet, but I hope you get your happy ending!

How have you felt on the clomid?

Nattx · 17/07/2020 12:49

@babybumpfor2020 I went 6 months on clomid and apart from the hot flushes I had no other side effects. If you're starting clomid in the summers months I do not envy you at all because mine were more during the winter months and I was literally melting! It was even worse at bed time, ended up buying a fan and having the windows wide open. My other half basically froze to death while I laid in bed soaked in sweat 🥵😂 unfortunately it didn't work for me and have since been referred for IVF but everyone is different and I've seen alot of happy endings on clomid and hopefully yours will be too! 🤞

@Nattx thank you for commenting sorry clomid didn't work for you, have you manage to start ivf?. I've been told I don't ovulate because of PCOS, did your clinic give you a diagnosis?

@babybumpfor2020 to be honest the clomid did help me ovulate the first time round but after that was nothing. The follicles were there but didn't mature enough to burst and release the egg, causing more little cysts 🙄 we were ment to start our first round of IVF and were waiting on my next cycle to begin which started just as the virus kicked in (just my luck) so it was cancelled, no restart date has been given yet. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16 through my GP referring me for a ultrasound because of irregular periods and when the time came to start trying for a baby we were referring straight away to our local ACU (assisted conception unit) and were given metformin, then introduced clomid alongside the metformin for 6 months when that didn't work they booked me in for ovarian drilling to try and kick start my ovaries to ovulate and that didn't work either so the only option after that for us was IVF. The consultant at the ACU strongly believes IVF will work for us as the only issue is getting the egg to release and IVF bypasses all of that so fingers crossed! 🤞
