We had word last week that we are going to be consented for IVF in early Aug and if all goes well cycling in September. This is obviously great news, lock down and then the waiting list situation has been really stressful (on top of how stressful infertility is anyway).

I'm very much thinking about what me and partner can do to improve our chances, reviewing all the supplements we're taking, cutting down on alcohol and caffeine, trying to loose a little weight (not that my weight is a huge problem, but figure it couldn't hurt). But in thinking about these things all I'm feeling a bit stressed which in tern is making me stressed about being stressed! Am I doing enough? Could I do more? Grrrrh!

So, what did you do to prepare for IVF? Was there anything that you would recommend or defiantly NOT recommend?

Tips and advice really appreciated. Smile

Get your vitamin D levels tested, if it's low, it's best to start sooner than later as it takes a long time to build up.

Hello :) I had my first round of IVF in March 2019 and then had a fresh transfer, looking back I was so stressed, constantly worrying what I ate, drank, if I was being too strenuous?! I told myself I wasn't stressed but when I look back I was a mess!

Second round March 2020, had to have embryos frozen due to covid like most people, however hopefully having Frpzen transfer in the next week or 2 as I've started taking hormones again to prepare for this.

The most recent cycle couldnt have gone better for my circumstances, (So far) better results at every appointment, better outcomes, everything has been so much better. I'm putting it down to being chilled this time around, I had a different mentality this time after doing much mental healing, I was in a better place mentally and I really do think this had an affect. I didnt stress about what I was eating, drinking, what I was doing etc, albeit, I've not drank alcohol as I'm not a big drinker, have stopped drinking coffee but only since last week! (Only had one a day anyway) and just ate everything in moderation like I normally would.

Sorry for babbling on, hope the above helps, I know not stressing is easier said than done (I'm a massive stress head) but I do believe just being in the right mind set can play a big part. Good luck with it all! xxxx

I bought ‘It Starts with the Egg’ after being told i only had 2/3 follicles on each ovary. I am currently waiting for my first scan after a BFP first round of ICSI. Great advice in this book about plastics, foods, drink, beauty products. I also dod acupuncture with if it is a specialist fertility acupuncturist is great.
