Hi,

I I'm really confused and hoping you lovely people will be able to help me.

I have been using clear blue advanced ovulation tests and I always get lots of flashing days before the static peak. This month I got a static face on cd20 but my temperature had increased already on cd19 so I'd assumed the tests had missed it.

I've got it all in a chart but Do you think I've ovulated from looking at it? Why have I got peak face after a temperature increase, I thought I ovulated 24 hours after the Lh surge that causes peak, or have I still not ovulated yet?

Any help/advice I'd really appreciate as I'm on for month 23 of trying and it's stressful not having anyone to talk with.

Thanks

My IVF clinic doesn't let you use clearblue digital as they say they can be a bit late ons erecting the surge compared to the cheap test strips

How long are your cycles usually? You could have a luteul phase defect if you regularly don't ovulate until so late in your cycle?

I'd try a couple of months of the cheap test strips - I used to love my clearblue and swore by it but after so long it became so expensive that I swapped to the cheap ones and downloaded the Premom app which scans a photo of the test strip and tells you if it's low high or peak and plots it on a nice graph alongside BBT

I was going to ask if your cycles are irregular in nature and whether you have been seen by a subfertility unit in hospital. Do you actually have a diagnosis of the underlying problem? At almost 2 years of ttc it is highly probable there is a problem with either one or both of you equally.

If your cycles are irregular I would urge you to ditch both the OPKs and temp charting methods. You may want to think you are doing something by using these but these methods can cause confusion and stress. Many subfertility units take no account of such charts mainly because they are so unreliable.

You can get a temp rise in the second half of your cycle when an egg has not been shed so temp charting is not infallible.

The problems with OPKs are that they work on two misleading principles; namely that a rise in LH happens once a month and that such a rise is followed by ovulation. Both statements are simply not true.

Thanks for the reply's, Yes I have already had my first appointment, I'm waiting on the follow up one but it's been delayed. I always have had cycles of 30-35 days. My lutual phase is always around 12. I know opks are not reliable but I thought that a temp rise was, so I didn't know that.

All my initial tests have come back fine, so bloods, scans, the due test, they can't find anything. It's all very annoying.

Do you think I haven't ovulated then?

Thanks for the replies really appreciate the advice.
