Traditional Chinese Medicine

In an attempt to try everything before we move onto adoption (we don't want to go through IVF), DH and I have gone to a traditional Chinese doctor. He seemed quite knowledgable and was very thorough in the initial assessment, and he prescribed me some pills and DH some tea.

I have always wondered about TCM, friends of the family had lots of success from it after years of trying, and I figured that it has been around for longer than western medicine so it can't be all nonsense!

Has anyone tried TCM? I would love to hear anyone's experience (good or bad!).

Hi, I'm aTcm fan as well. I had some acupuncture sessions previously and I'm having a consultation booked in two weeks time to start with the herbs. This is my last shot before the IUI/ IVF treatments.

@Chicasimona you will have to let me know how you get on! Are you going with your other half?

How did you find acupuncture?

I’ve had acupuncture and also Chinese herbs from a lady who is a fertility specialist. Whilst I think it helps (especially the herbs) it hasn’t created a baby, in fact we got our worst result ever in my just gone ICSI round.

However I don’t regret money spent as she is so knowledgeable about IVF and has been a great sounding board, she’s been of enormous assistance.

I loved acupuncture very relaxing and could see some benefits. I start on the herbs on my own first but if she suggests my husband to take something we can always give it a go. We have unexplained infertility so not sure what can we fix but it's worth trying.
I'm looking forward to hear your experience as well. When are you starting on your yummy teas?

I had acupuncture with a fertility specialist for a year up until (and including the time) I had IVF. Unfortunately I didn't fall pregnant naturally whilst have acupuncture but I very much felt benefit from the treatment, it was very relaxing and made me feel like I was actively doing some thing. My IVF was successful first time, I don't if the years worth of acupuncture helped but I like to think it did and feel it was worth the money I spent on it.

Hi all, just to give you a quick update. I'm drinkinking the herbal teas for a week now. The herbs come in powder form and I have it as a hot drink twice a day.

The Tcm practicioner asked me to give a weekly update about any changes and a picture of my tounge. Based on my feedback she will adjust the herbs accordingly. Early days so let's see X

Good luck!

I love TCM, after living in China for a few years in my 30s.

I had acupuncture while TTC, and I really think it helped. I used to have very short periods - sign of thin lining. After TCM they beefed up, and we conceived DD.

redlaces11 · 29/07/2020 14:42

Hey chica Iv been drinking it for a week now too I had my 2nd treatment yesterday he's also gave me some pills to take twice a day but I only drink my tea once at night

Chicasimona · 29/07/2020 18:10

@GoshHashana thank you for sharing your experience it is so encouraging to hear a success story. Can I ask how quickly did you notice any changes?

@redlaces11 can I ask what are these pills for? What's the difference between the pills and herbal teas? Good luck X

GoshHashana · 29/07/2020 18:41

@Chicasimona I started the acupuncture in July last year, and felt that my menstrual cycle changed within a couple of months. I conceived in the November.

Hi @redlaces11
I hope you are well, just wondering how are you getting on with your herbal teas? X
