Progynova help

Can someone please help me, I have just been for my first scan of my foray FET and they have cancelled my cycle due to my ovary growing eggs (I only have one). Can anyone tell me what the Progynova actually does in a cycle, is that what stops the eggs growing?? Sorry if it sounds a silly question, it’s just I’m not sure what to do they said maybe I should have another fresh cycle has my ovary always seem very active or start again next month of five tablets instead of 3. I’m just so confused now and don’t know what to do xx

Were you on a short protocol (so no downregulation/ drugs before starting progynova)? With short protocol they usually start progynova early in your cycle to stop ovulation and to thicken the lining of your womb. Progynova is a synthetic form of oestrogen. So perhaps you need a higher dose of progynova than average to achieve this? I don’t know why they would suggested a fresh cycle based on this though and would question this. FET cycles are usually considered to be at least as successful as fresh cycles.

Yes I was on the short protocol with no down regulating (my clinic does not offer this anyway), and started my tablets on the second day of my period. I have emailed a nurse today and she is arranging for the doctor to ring me. They have now made me worry about what to do and wondering if I have a problem with lining with it been so thin and if this was the reason for my last fail cycle. They didn’t tell me the measurement of my lining last time but I have asked them to find out.
Also I’m wondering why they didn’t up the medication and rescan in a few days, I’m hoping I don’t have to wait to long to speak to them and maybe I’ll get some answers. The nurse yesterday made me lose confidence she didn’t seem to have a clue.
Thankyou for your help and I definitely will be questioning, why they would think it would be better to do a fresh cycle when I’ve got two high grade embryos in the freezer. Xx

Are you on buserelin? I'm pretty sure this is what inhibits your FSH and therfore prevents follicle growth. The progynova simply replaces the oestrogen that got clicked would have produced in order to thicken the womb lining, which obviously needs to happen in order for them to transfer the embryo. My clinic starts buserelin injections well before your period and baseline scan in order to ensure no follicle growth takes place.

Sorry for the typo there - got clicked??? Should have said replaces the oestrogen that your follicles would have produced.

I was on a short cycle, my clinic don’t do down regulation. I started progynova on the second day of my period and went for my first scan a week later. I was thinking the same as you, as to want the tablets did that why I’m confused that they expected to be no follicles, but maybe I just didn’t understand it clearly enough. They’ve told me to start again on the second day of my period but with 5 tablets aday instead of 3. Fingers crossed it does the job this time xx

High levels of oestrogen early in your cycle also inhibits FSH. Hence why they start progynova at CD2. X

That make more sense now Thankyou @Lemongrass1 I think I was just shocked to have it cancelled and I didn’t realise how it all worked. I tried not to look into things too much this time. On my fresh cycle I researched everything thing and every outcome so was trying to give my mind a rest this time 😂😂 xx

I have my fingers crossed for you that the higher dose of progynova does the trick 🤞🤞🤞 Good luck xx
