Medication help :(

Hi everyone

Complete panic. Tried to administer my first Cetrotide injection today. Messed up 5 boxes of it, the needle snapped and the liquid wouldn't come back out the vial. Managed to get the last one (we think) right. Are we going to have to pay for new meds?

I tried so hard to get it right but each time something went wrong.

Help!

I have a scan tommorow, I feel like the nurses are just going to laugh at me or get really annoyed :/

Bring the snapped needles etc with you if you think they were faulty.
I suspect they weren't and you will have to pay but Cetrotide is pretty cheap (I pay £15 per Cetrotide injection).
Ask the nurse to show you again or you will probably end up wasting more.
Also worth checking if it is one that can be made up in advance, if so do it before you need it to reduce pressure of doing the injection by a certain time.
I have issues every time I snap a Menopur vial, should be used to it by now but they bamboozle me every time.

Good luck with the scan!

Hi!

Thanks for the reply!

I went for my scan this morning, they were amazing. Gave me one cetrotide to take home, have ordered more meds to be delivered for me tomorrow and no extra charge. They also taught me how to do the injection again. The instructions on Youtube and the leaflet are wron. The nurses said you don't turn the vial upside to withdraw the medicine you do it at an angle!

Scan went well. Follicles appear to be growing!!

Great news on both counts!
Hope you now feel more confident.

My clinic actually over prescribed Menopur a tad for me because I find the vials so difficult to use. I'm about to start stims for the 6th time soon and the pharmacy was out of the size I need so I have to do two vials every day instead of one. Going to be interesting!

Hope the rest of your treatment goes well.
