Where did you get your drugs?

Hi all.

Starting Short Protocol IVF/ICSI in a few weeks and just got my prescription from the clinic. They've recommended using Stork so I've sent off for a quote from them.

Just wondered if anyone could recommend other pharmacies to get quotes from?

I got mine from Fertility2u (May also be known as Healthcare at Home).
For the drugs I needed they were the cheapest. The delivery charge was £50 or thereabouts as some of the medication had to remain refrigerated.

Mine came from fertility2u for the first couple of cycles.

You can get them from ASDA - supposed to be cheaper from there as they don't charge profit on them but I've heard from others there isn't much to it and to avoid stress of running out etc I found it easier to get from the clinic

I got mine from Asda. They were a lot cheaper, I think about £400 overall. No delivery fee as I collected in store, and took 48hrs for them to be ready.

@rumtopf You were right! We're saving about £500 getting our drugs from Asda.

Only thing we're not clear on is if we'll get the Ovaleap pen just thrown in with the cartridges. That's what Fertility2U said but Asda weren't sure what happened about the pen.

@Jacky83 I'm not sure about that as it's not one I used. The price difference is dramatic isn't it! I was so pleasantly surprised and the pharmacist was so helpful and lovely to me, which helps. Make sure you get a bigger sharps bin if pos as they fill up really quickly and you need another prescription to get another.

JeNeBaguetteRien · 02/07/2020 00:50

@Jacky83 I should imagine the pen is included, how would they expect you to administer the medication if not?
In the unlikely event they didn't supply it would have time to get one if it doesn't arrive with the medication?

Can I be nosy and ask the Asda prices you are paying?

@Rumtopf you've reminded me I have a few boxes full of sharps to get rid of!

Jacky83 · 02/07/2020 09:20

@JeNeBaguetteRien Nosy away this is the prices our local Asda has quoted. I've no idea if these prices vary around the country but we're in South Wales:

Fyremadel - £19.35 per dose
Cyclogest Pessaries - £12.96 per box of 15
Norethisterone - £1.40 per box
Progynova - £7.30 per box of 84
Ovaleap Cartridge 900iu - £75.20 per cartridge*
Ovitrelle Pen - £37.66

*I think this is wrong and they've given us the price for a 300iu cartridge as this is far too cheap for a 900iu cartridge. Going to check that when I go back in.

Hope that helps!
