follicle size before trigger

Hi all,

I have some questions about follicle size before trigger injection. I had a cycle at CRGH in Jan this year and their criteria was 18 mm follicle size. In the following month I did a FET and my natural follicle actually reached 27 mm before ovulation. The 27mm size was quite a few days over time than my usual ovulation day in the past as my days were very consistent. I think it was because of the drugs in the prior month. Now I am using Create. The criteria is 16 mm follicle size. I just wonder if this is a little too early? What are you experiences? Thanks!

I'm with Create and generally I've triggered when lead follicle is 18mm plus but also had a couple of dominant ones that were more like 24mm. Because I'm a control freak I kept spreadsheets of all 5 egg collections at Create and anything that was 14mm and bigger on day of TRIGGER yielded a mature egg. They will continue to grow for the couple of days after trigger and until egg collection.

I was concerned about size on trigger day and found a study that said actually follicles larger than 24-26mm on trigger day contained over mature eggs that had less chance of success of being fertilised and making a good quality blastocyst

Every cycle is a gamble and it's a fine balancing act of what your hormone levels say vs follicle size

@ivfgottostaypositive, thanks, Create actually let follicles grow to over 18 mm as well. The lady thought I was on natural modified but I said I was mild so they let me continue. I do feel I need to double check everything to make sure they don't make any mistakes which was what I experienced with CRGH and I had trouble there due to their omission. Now my follicles are over 20-24mm. They asked me to take the last Cetrotide today and then 4.5 hours later the trigger Ovitrelle. I did not take Cetrotie on the day of trigger at CRGH. Just want to double check if this is normal? I feel I could have taken the trigger yesterday already but Create ia not open on Sundays for scans so it is today after Friday's scan. CRGH opens every day so it was different.

Hi there, I've done a cycle with ABC and I took my last Cetrotide 2 hours before my Ovitrelle trigger. So I think what you've been told is right. Good luck!

thanks. After Ovitrelle, did you get a positive on ovulation test the next morning? I tested this morning but a very faint line which is negative. I think it is cetrotide that is making it faint. This is so different from my last cycle in which I got a strong line on ovulation test after the trigger. But the clinic thinks it is fine. I cannot help overthinking about every detail at the moment.

Ovitrelle is a type of synthetic HCG so I don't think I would expect it to give you a positive ovulation test? I didn't even think to do one. Ovulation tests measure LH which is a completely different hormone. I think you are perhaps overthinking it which I totally understand! Hope your EC goes well tomorrow x
