Prednisolone/Ramsay Hunt syndrome

So we had the go ahead to start round 2 on my next cycle. What I thought was an ear infection has now been diagnosed as Ramsay Hunt Syndrome (like a form of shingles). I’m now on 50mg of prednisolone and 800g aciclovir for the next 10 days, would be due my period in around 21 days.

Does anyone have any idea if I’ll be ok to start still or if I need to have a break for abit?! I don’t know if I’m just over thinking or if there’s a chance they could affect things!

What is your clinics current policy on prednisolone? I would usually take it as part of my IVF protocol but was told if I wanted to start treatment then I had to agree not to take it (and I was only on low dose about 10mg per day). I was told their is a pretty restrictive ban on using prednisolone during treatment due to it reducing the immune system and they had a moral duty not to do it during a pandemic l. If I wanted to take it I may have to wait up to a year! That's the policy at my clinic but I have heard of other clinics allowing people to take it

I’m not sure, I’ve emailed to ask and she said she’ll come back to me. I’m due to finish the course next weekend, and my downregging wouldn’t actually start until the end of July which gives me a month - do you think it would all be out my system by then? I just don’t want to do anything that might impact the quality of my eggs...

I don't think it stays in the body for long so I think you should be ok? I've done 5 rounds of IVF and honestly external influences like lifestyle diet supplements etc had zero effect on my egg quality - the only thing that made a difference was changing the specific protocol/mix of drugs I was on to suit my specific hormone levels that month x

Ah I was hoping you’d say that!! Thank you! X
