Hi Bobbs,

Thanks for sharing your experiences. And well done on staying so positive - I really believe it goes a long way!

We started our first IVF cycle a few weeks before lockdown. I was on Day 9 of my stims when the clinic said that any embryos from that cycle would need to be frozen due to the clinic closing. Anyone on Day 3 or less of stims had their cycles cancelled, so I felt lucky in one way.
Anyway I have low AMH so even with max dose, we only got 4 eggs at my collection. One of these reached Day 5 blastocyst stage and was frozen back in March.
I’ve just had it transferred on Wednesday so am currently in the ‘two week wait’.
I’m trying to get a balance between relaxing and taking gentle exercise by walking a few times a day (not much else to do right now, anyway!) and eating clean. I’ve had lots of pineapple and Brazil nuts, just in case the claims that they help with implantation is true! I noticed a small amount of blood on the toilet paper last night so I’m staying positive and hoping this was a sign of implantation, whilst being realistic so as not to be too disappointed if we test negative next weekend!

Sending lots of distanced hugs to you! ❤️ Xx

Maybe / possibly. Waiting to get some embryos genetically tested, we had a fresh transfer that failed in November and we are getting the 3 analyses due to our ages (40 and 38). They number of embryos declined after day 3 which is often a sign of sperm and genetic issues. If they are goers probably will be transferred in September. Same meds but rectal rather than vaginal progesterone, it’s way too sore for me done vaginally. Probably going to take 2 weeks off work and try not to stress (easier said than done!).

Good luck with it all.

I tested negative last week and have a follow up appointment over the phone this afternoon. Just want to get going again now but believe there is a backlog due to lockdown so may have to wait a while.

Hi @BOBSS, sorry to hear your feeling so low. Not much news with me, still waiting for my next cycle which I think will be another couple of months. I have started taking DHEA as recommended by my consultant. There’s some evidence to show it helps women with low amh / afc to produce more eggs. I’m also taking some other supplements.
Do you have a fertility diagnosis or unexplained?
I know it’s really difficult and so disheartening but we have to be kind to ourselves and stay as hopeful and positive as we can - whilst also allowing ourselves a time to grieve after those negative cycles 💕 xx

Hi @Pineapples1986 ..thank u so much for kind words.. I have mild endometriosis..that's it.. doc says this might be the reason for no implantation..

May I know ..what other suppliments ur talking..

Wishing child dust to everyone..💕💕

@BOBSS I’ve heard of so many people with endometriosis who have gotten that BFP eventually, including one who also has PCOS and they have just had their baby girl after 6 years of trying (3 naturally, 3 of assisted cycles). It is so draining both emotionally and financially but if you can keep at it, even if you need a bit of a break between cycles, I truly believe it will happen :) it’s just a law of odds and statistics.
With my low egg reserve, my consultant told me my chances are 10% per cycle (being a low responder and only getting a few eggs even with max. dose stims), whereas most people my age would have a 30-35% chance. I also have a slight womb abnormality that they aren’t too concerned about on ultrasound but want to do a hysteroscopy just to get a closer look. Also a long wait for, due to the virus!
Regarding supplements, I’m taking the DHEA as mentioned, a standard prenatal multivitamin, ubiquinol (COQ-10), R-Lipoic acid, vitamins c, d and e (all separate) and N-acetylcysteine. They’re all recommended in the book ‘It Starts With The Egg’ by Rebecca Fett. It’s mostly about antioxidants and cell energy, this improving the quality of our eggs (and sometimes quantity) to improve chances of success at every stage (response to stims, fertilisation, getting to Day 5 blast and implantation). The better the egg, the greater chance of achieving all these things. She does also provide information for diets, supplements and lifestyle factors that can help conditions including endo. Along with a chapter on sperm quality too, if that’s an issue (isn’t with us). She has degrees in molecular biotechnology and biochemistry and has been on the IVF journey herself. It’s definitely worth a read and the science behind all her advice is well documented and referenced. If you do decide to order a copy, be sure to order the second edition which is updated from her first one from a few years ago.
I felt much more positive after reading it and now feel like I can spend the next couple of months taking some controlled steps to improving my egg quality and overall health whilst I’m in limbo between cycles! Eating as healthily as possible and avoiding obvious toxins. I do allow myself a cheat day a week though if we want to eat out or order in (have to live life too as it’s stressful enough, this process!) and if I do feel like a drink, just have 2 or 3 small glasses of red wine, rather than the bottle (or 2!) :)
I’ll also be starting acupuncture in a few weeks which helpfully is offered at my clinic.
Sorry for the long post but hope it is useful in some way :)
Lots of hugs and good vibes to you 🌟 xxxx

@BOBSS so sorry to hear this. Thinking of you. I am not really sure what to do next either?

Good look with the It Starts With an Egg stuff. We have started following some of it recently. Cue even more vitamins!!

Apologies for my slow response -l have had some time off here. We got the results of the embryos analysis and all of them are abnormal. One didn’t even survive defrost. I think I’m hindsight they were all abnormal, even the 2 that were transferred last year. So they will have to be disposed of

BOBSS · 22/07/2020 10:41

Hi @EL8888 as suggested by @pineapples1986 go through the book ‘It Starts With The Egg’ by Rebecca Fett. It's really good..m reading it..good part is ..this book answers all the queries we have..quite logical.. will help for sure.. take care..

Thank you so much @Pineapples1986 for suggesting this book..

Wishing baby dust to all of us soon..💕💕

Hi @BOBSS. Sorry for the delay. Re exercises, I believe it’s gentle things like walking, cycling and swimming rather than anything too crazy - no two hour runs or gym workouts (suits me!) xx

@EL8888 sorry to hear about the results of your embryo analysis. Have they advised on the best route to take next? The embryo I had transferred in March didn’t defrost well. Apparently 30% of the cells ‘broke away’ but they still wanted to do the transfer as it was the only one we had and they said anything over 50% of cells remaining can still implant. Sounded a bit dubious to me but what can we do when we are in the hands of embryologists and doctors! Have to trust them and although it didn’t work out, I remained hopeful throughout the 2ww and it was worth a try. It’s hard feeling so out of control though in such a gruelling process. It’s things like taking all these vitamins as you mentioned, that can help us to feel like we are doing something positive and hopefully conducive. Although I do feel like I’m rattling most days, I’m taking that many pills! xx

Sending love and hugs to you both 🌟💞🌟

Pineapples1986 · 17/11/2020 15:08

Hey ladies,

Long time, no speak - hope you’re both keeping well.
I’ve been debating sharing this for a couple of weeks, as I know how hard it is to read of other people’s BFP news when you’re struggling yourself. However, I also feel like people don’t always bother to come back on to share their positive stories, which I think could counteract some of the negativity surrounding failed IVF attempts we share, and give hope.

As you’ve probably gathered from what I’ve already said, we got our positive. 4 weeks ago on Friday. We have since had a few scans and seen a heartbeat and the baby is so far growing and developing normally (currently 7+4).
We were told after our first cycle we had a less than 10% chance of success with my eggs, and were strongly advised to use a donor. My amh was super low and I also have a womb abnormality. This cycle we only got 3 eggs. All 3 fertilised but only one made it to Day 3, so we had it transferred then rather than wait until Day 5 (another factor I thought would reduce our chances).
We tested fully expecting a negative result and had prepared ourselves for another couple of years of cycles before we would try with donor eggs instead (I’m 35). To our utter amazement, this wasn’t the case. Seeing two lines, I went dizzy and could’ve fallen over! I re-tested every morning for two weeks as I just couldn’t believe it. Obviously it is still early days but I wanted to share some positivity and I hope, some hope. Miracles do happen 🙂. Sending lots of love and embry-energy out. Pineapples xxxx
