Struggling to conceive... what's the process?

We already have a DS6 but have been trying to conceive for over 3 years now. I don't ovulate regularly. Sometimes it's 50 days sometimes less but there's no set pattern.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows what will happen if I go to the dr. I'd like to understand the process and what they'll do first and what others have experienced. Thanks

It can vary by area and because you already have a child you aren't entitled to much on the NHS

I'd have heard that you can get ovulation drugs on the NHS even if you have a child but depends on your doctor

Hello! Your GP should be able to start with some basic hormone blood tests on day 2-3 of your cycle (LH, FSH, testosterone, oestrogen, prolactin), and perhaps order a transvaginal scan to check for cysts, polyps and any other reason why you might not be falling pregnant. If your cycles are irregular then you may have PCOS? Your partner should have semen analysis - they probably need to book their own appointment to arrange this.
It’s also worth asking for blood tests for thyroid (TSH), Vit D and coeliac screen as these can also affect fertility.
Beyond that you have the option of either NHS referral to see what they can offer (e.g. ovulation induction as mentioned above), or looking at private clinics. Good luck x
