Hi ,

We are looking into self funding. Currently unexplained following bloods and sperm analysis and concerned about long waits on NHS.

Based on where we live we have narrowed down clinics to the Hewitt centre in liverpool or the ABC clinic.

Does anyone have an experience with either clinic that they are happy to share? Xx

I thought you'd appreciate some positive news! Hopefully you two won't be too far off now either x

Positivity20 · 09/09/2020 23:16

@Chicasimona Straight to ICSI for us as were male factor. I’m 35 too and DH is 32, we don’t have the option of IUI but as you do you also always have ivf as a back up. Im not sure on the protocols they offer come to think of it! Have you thought about how many rounds of iui you’d do?

EllieEskimo · 09/09/2020 23:40

@Chicasimona sorry, I think our messages must have crossed earlier, I've only just seen yours now. We are unexplained too and late thirties, so they also suggested we go straight to ivf. Medication or iui has never been mentioned for us, I think because of our ages? As for protocols, I'm the same, no idea what they do! I was told by the nurse last time not to Google anything before the appointment, but that was in February... Seven months have passed, a pandemic has appeared, and I'm 500,000 Google searches in!!

Chicasimona · 10/09/2020 07:37

@EllieEskimo I know exactly what you mean, I live on Google. I don't think there is an article on Google I haven't read. Lol

@Positivity20 If we do Iui I think we would do max 3 rounds, I don't want to waste too much money if it's not the right treatment for us.

Can I as ladies are you both Wrightington patients?

EllieEskimo · 10/09/2020 10:44

@Chicasimona Yes, Wrightington. We weren't aware about it being part of Hewitt when we chose there. Do you know if that means that the actual transfers and collections will be at one of the other clinics? It's never been mentioned 🤷🏻‍♀️

EllieEskimo · 24/09/2020 17:31

Hi ladies, have you heard anything yet?? We've had our appointment so things are starting to move 🎉 Should be going ahead with everything by November 🙂

Chicasimona · 24/09/2020 17:55

Hi @EllieEskimo
I'm still waiting for the magic phone call. :)
Can I ask how did your consultation go? Do you have to re-do all your blood tests? Have they mentioned how does the funding application works? I hope there is no other waiting list for treatments.

EllieEskimo · 24/09/2020 18:15

@Chicasimona I hope you hear something soon, it's highly frustrating! The consultation went really well. Funding wasn't mentioned. We were an NHS referral, so I think they have everything they need for that (as it was via the GP). We do both of us need to have bloods though. I had thought they were redoing the previous ones, but from the sounds of it, they check for hepatitis and other stuff like that (I think!) for treatment to go ahead. I was surprised they said we'd start so soon to be honest, as I was expecting some other hidden delay!

Chicasimona · 24/09/2020 18:23

@EllieEskimo Best of luck with all the upcoming treatments X

EllieEskimo · 24/09/2020 18:26

Thank you @Chicasimona I really hope that call comes soon for you, good luck x

Chicasimona · 13/10/2020 17:18

Hello ladies, finally I have an appointment, 9th of November, yupee I'm not forgotten.

How are you ladies getting on with your treatments?

EllieEskimo · 13/10/2020 18:15

@Chicasimona Wonderful news! Is that for the virtual appointment to go through your treatment plan? Once we'd had that, we had bloods on the next cycle, and now just waiting for my next cycle to start in order to start the drugs, eek! So I found things to move quickly once we'd had that appointment x

Chicasimona · 13/10/2020 19:16

Hi @EllieEskimo
Yes, it's the virtual consultation with one of the nurses. Have they mentioned you anything to do or not to do prior treatments, hair dye, supplements etc?

Good luck with your treatments, I hope it's a summer baby for you X

EllieEskimo · 13/10/2020 20:56

@Chicasimona oh wouldn't that be lovely 🤞 thank you. Blimey I didn't think of asking about that you know. Perhaps I will do this when I go in for my injection teach thing. I've been too busy worrying about work and how I can get through the whole process without telling them! 🙈

Chicasimona · 14/10/2020 09:39

Hi @EllieEskimo
I told my line manager about my treatments, I thought it's one headache less and easier this way.
I hope Dr Harris is geared up for us :)

EllieEskimo · 14/10/2020 22:51

@Chicasimona Geared up for us!!! 😆 Yes, you're probably right, I just wish I had more confidence in my management team to keep it zipped! But anyway, today's focus has shifted to Covid and how it might pee on our chips this time 😁 ha x

Chicasimona · 09/12/2020 08:18

Hi ladies, I hope you are all well. Just wondering how are you getting on with your treatments? X

EllieEskimo · 10/12/2020 17:47

Hi @Chicasimona I thought about you two recently and wondered how you'd got on too, and I've just seen your message now. We have finished our round now with all the 'important bits' being done at Knutsford. I can't quite believe that I can tell you that it has actually worked!!! And we've just had the scan yesterday to confirm! Where are you up to now, any news?? x

Chicasimona · 10/12/2020 21:00

Hi @EllieEskimo
What a wonderful news, congratulations!
We decided to go for 3 rounds of Iui before proceeding with IVF. I just had my first round this week so early days.
I wish you a healthy pregnancy X

EllieEskimo · 11/12/2020 16:48

@Chicasimona Oh brilliant, isn't it lovely to finally get started! Good luck with it all and fingers tightly crossed the IUI does the trick! Thank you so much, we are still in shock!!! x
