Unexplained? Did anything work for you?

I’ve had unexplained infertility and secondary infertility for the last 8 years or so.. tried lots of different things but really IVF was the only thing that really worked in the end.

I’m trying to think of all the things we could try before we give up! If you had unexplained but then got pregnant what did you change?

Hello,

Unexplained infertility here. Tried for 5 years without success. Followed that with two rounds of IVF in the UK. Was a poor responder, only had one embryo fertilise across the pair of rounds and had a 2d transfer. No joy.

Went to a clinic abroad, had a hysteroscopy, both took various supplements, and I started reflexology. Fell pregnant naturally, for the very first time ever, 4 months later. Just over 6 years after we started trying. Now almost 21 weeks pregnant, and everything seems to be ok with our baby so far.

I put it down to the hysteroscopy, reflexology (I am so not ‘woo’!) and good old-fashioned luck. Wishing the same for you Flowers

Hi @WhatWouldPennyDo , it is quite an interesting exp that you have shared. May i ask if your hysteroscopy result was normal ? I had hysterscopy 3 months back after 2 rounds of ivf transfer implantation failure.. came out normal..my doctor did say that the procedure is a good cleanup of the uterus and increases chance to conceive..i have been trying but had non luck so far

@duckhouse on the video I saw of the procedure, there seemed to be quite a lot of scar tissue (goodness knows from what!). They removed that, did implantation cuts, and it looked so much better.

I don’t have anything other than anecdata to back up my next statement, but my view is having a hysteroscopy done at the hospital I used (Mitera, Athens) was much more thorough than the NHS equivalent. Having a general anaesthetic helped!

In hindsight, I wish I’d gone to my clinic for investigations before going through the unpleasantness of my NHS IVF experience, but you live and learn!

It was the fourth month that worked for us, and I’m sure the luck of timing was in our favour, too. Good luck!

2 years TTC, unexplained infertility. Fell pregnant in the cycle that I had my HSG (HSG on cd8, DTD on cd10 and cd15). Good luck.
