Bulk buy or have a try?

Starting private IVF as soon as things reopen hopefully. Had all the tests done just waiting to start treatment. Husband has low sperm count, everything came back normal for me so only thing against me is my age (37).

Just wondering what people think about paying? Should we just pay for one cycle to see how we get on then we can bulk buy after that if it isn't successful? Or should we bulk buy three cycles now?

I'm an 1983 baby too and my IVF worked first time 11 weeks ago, so try not to let worries about your age bog you down too much.

My question would be can the multiple rounds be used for a second pregnancy? If the answer is yes and you would like to have more than one child, I would bulk buy if you can afford it.

No they have to be used within 12 months. Think we are going to do one cycle and see how we get on. If that fails we'll then buy a three-cycle plan.

Fingers crossed we get the same result as you! Congratulations!

I did two single cycles then paid for a 3 cycle package and looking back now I wish I'd paid for the 6 cycle package as it would have been loads cheaper (so far we've spent £35k! 😩) but you don't know whether you are going to be one of the lucky ones where it works first time or one of the unlucky ones where it will take multiple goes or whether you get one blastocyst per cycle or 5

If I didn't already have a DD I would definitely have gone straight to a multi cycle package as if you want siblings then you need to bank as many as you can

(I'm also an 83 baby 🤣)

Also you have to factor in the psychological impact of doing egg collection after egg collection before you can get to transfer

I've been lucky that my first 2 of the 3 cycle package were back to back with no break in between

The worst part I've found is the 5 days waiting to hear what has made it to blastocyst - I've never cried so much in my life or slept less! And if you are in a package then you've got to go through that again and again until you can even transfer
