One blocked fallopian tube- What's next?

Hi,
I had a Hysterosalpinogram a couple of months ago and from the results my left fallopian tube is blocked.
I can't see my gynaecologist until after my fiancé has a repeat SA but the department is closed. So I can't get any answers yet.

I was wondering if anyone with previous experiences could help me out?

What happens next? Will they try to unblock the tube or stimulate the other ovary to ovulate or is IVF the last option?

No experience of this, bumping in the hope someone who can help will come along. Im just wondering, is there any reason to think there will be an ovulation issue with the other ovary?

@Imboredinthehouse Plenty of reasons haha:
I have had blood tests that confirm I don't ovulate every cycle.
I also have irregular cycles. And I track BBT that shows ovulation on only about 4 cycles from the past year.

Try serrapeptase it's an enzyme supplement that gets rid of scarring on fallopian tubes and clears blockages. It's had great results and rave reviews on babycenter.. I just ordered mine from ebay get the Dr best brand as apparently its the best one to buy! 4 weeks on them and women have had repeat hsg with no blockages!

Much better than surgery that can cause more damage! Worth a try! 😁

You may not need surgery - a laparoscopy can be done to laser any scarring but as far ask I’m aware it depends on how extensive the blockage is. My mum had endometriosis and an ectopic which resulted in her having to have one Fallopian tube removed and she conceived twice after that. They say that each ovary generally speaking alternates each month in releasing an egg so it may just mean that it takes you a little longer as you have less ovulation windows! Really wouldn’t worry. Im sure when you are able to have a consult with your doctor they’ll look at your specific case and tell you best route. But from a general perspective only having one/functioning Fallopian tube does not necessarily mean that you need to seek further fertility measures at all

I had surgery to unblock a Fallopian tube. Still not pregnant a year later. Also been on clomid, letrazole and tamoxifen but had problems with each of those so had to stop. Had first try at ivf in Feb but that failed. If I had to guess (and I'm no expert!) I'd say they'd try giving you something like clomid to help with the ovulation. Your Fallopian tubes sort of sway around so one Fallopian tube can potentially pick up from either ovary. It doesn't reduce your chances by 50%, it's definitely still possible to get pregnant.

@expat30 what dose do you use? Is it safe to take while ttc? I know I've had my tubes unblocked already but maybe this will help even more. I already take a zillion ttc supplements though!

Yes completely safe to take when ttc. 40,000 iu a day for a month some women take 80,000 to 120,000 but I would start small and work your way up. It has to be taken on an empty stomach. You will see the scar tissue coming out when you wee, or poo, or through discharge, like bits of white tissue. My friend had an hgc and told both her tubes were blocked. She then took this for 4 weeks and went back and both her tubes were wide open. The doctor was shocked. Type it in on Google and you will see all the rave reviews @seven201

In my case as I was think then 39 and had one blocked but one clear tube

As I came round all groggy my lovely female surgeon said go straight for ivf

I had been ttc for think 5yrs then and no bfp

I just wrote a big message and it didn't post, so shortened version:

I was in a pretty similar situation to you and got pregnant on 2nd cycle of Clomid, with no monitoring or triggering etc. I was terrified of ectopic pregnancy for the first couple of weeks, due to the blocked tube, but a scan at 7 weeks confirmed all was ok. So it's definitely possible - I think the odds are in your favour, so try not to worry too much about the delay.

The approach we started with with one blocked tube was ultrasound to see which side ovulation was and insemination if it was on the good side. We ended up with IVF because the bad side turned out to be the dominant ovary.

(And in the end we had two children, so it worked out fine.)

My left tube was blocked
It depends on why you are struggling to conceive, I was told because my husband had low spend count we’d need ivf anyway so their was no point In finding out why or trying to unlock the tube. My consultant also said it wouldn’t decrease the chances naturally by much anyway but I’m not so sure about that. Also depends if it is a hydrosalpinx and fluid in the tube which can decrease ivf success rates.
I’m currently pregnant after a first round of icsi and the tube wasn’t any significance it made no difference x

I know this is an old thread but did the serrapatase work for anyone?
