Does anyone else find the new eBay advert really grating?

The one where it says the couple spent a fateful 94 seconds together and got pregnant and now they have to trade in all the fun things they have for the baby. Then again they spend another 94 seconds together again and another baby comes along.

I know I'm being irrational but at the minute things like this are getting to me! The idea that it is all that easy! And people suggesting having children is a pain and inconvenience.

It’s stupid. I’m getting wound up about little things too.
The threads about “should I have another baby” as if it’s guaranteed to just happen are driving me mad. How can it be that easy for some people. It’s just not fair.

YES! I’ve mentioned this advert before. It totally pees me off and upsets me.
I’m more emotional at the moment anyway as babies and announcements are everywhere.

Every time it comes on I say how horrible it is. I hate it makes me so angry. I don't think it would be as bad if IVF wasn't stopped everything seems hurtful at the min xxx

Sorry you are all feeling the same way! Our IVF appointment has been cancelled as well Hoping1. I think that's why things are bothering me more because it just seems like it will be forever away now. And there are loads of news articles talking about how there will be a lockdown baby boom.

We were so close it been 3 years for us this year . Got all injections everything then boom covid 19. Lucky I have deleted social media feel better for it too. I am really teary today . Its just shit isn't it. Then everyone saying could take NHS year before they back up and running. Just at a lost with everything at min. How you doing with it all xxx

I really feel for you it is so shit. We hadn't got as far along as you yet, we were on our first appointment and we had a letter to say we may have to redo all the pre fertility referral tests again so I'm worried it's going to just push it back and back. I find I'm on a rollercoaster of emotion with it all. Some days I'm okay and others it just feels overwhelming. How is your other half about it all? I find my DH is easily able to put it out of his mind and just thinks rationally about it all.

I am ok most days but lockdown makes you think alot. There is so much waiting what area are you in we North East England. My partner for two years put it to back of his mind now that we were this close to IVF he has really felt it and he has low man stuff so that was hard to hear plus he 39 this year. He wants a baby before he is 40 as his dad was that age when he had him and sadly wasn't very well so he doesn't want be be an old dad. How long have you be trying xxx

Yes I have to turn it off. Prominent on ITV day time shows so avoiding putting that on on my days off now. It’s a horrible advert. And I totally understand where everyone else is coming from with it x

I hate it when people talk like that-like it’s just so easy. I also hate the way people plan the gap between their children as if it is so straightforward that it’ll happen exactly as planned. Usually for the people who talk like this, it does happen exactly as they intend and they have absolutely no idea what some of us have to deal with.

Gives me the rage, 94 seconds some of us should be so lucky!
I'm very fortunate to have a DD as a result of NHS IVF but she took 5 years and if we want a sibling it'll be a few thousand and a number of 4 hour round trips to Seacroft to use our frostie, which we were hoping to use next month but Corona has thwarted that plan.

It's been a year and a half since we started trying. We got married abroad and so had to wait 6 months before we started trying due to Zika. If I'd known what I know now though I think I wouldn't have bothered waiting! We have issues on both sides. My DH has low sperm count, volume, morphology and all else! It seems so unfair. He gave up drinking alcohol and all caffeine and any unhealthy things for three months before retesting and the numbers got worse! I've had blood tests with high prolactin levels and also have polycystic ovaries, although they told me I didn't have a hormone imbalance linked to it. We're in the Midlands. We get one try on the NHS, so it feels like we should make the most of that try but with Coronavirus I'm just worried that it will push things back further and further. I also don't want to cut massively into our savings as I'm expecting it's going to take a lot of tries! How many cycles do you get on the NHS where you are?

I know it's so hard to take it sometimes isn't it. I have to say I was unbelievably naive before we began this journey and I remember thinking I wanted to plan to have a September baby as though it's that easy! In my family I've always grown up with my mum sister, cousin's and aunties telling me they could plan it to the month so I always assumed it would be the same but it just isn't that easy. I find it really hard to hear people complaining about their kids during lockdown when I think I would give anything to have my own! I work with little children as well so it sometimes feels like I'm surrounded by it!

I'm so sorry to hear your plans have been pushed back but it's lovely to hear you were successful in having your DD. If you don't mind me asking how much is it costing you to go private?

Like it's so easy, although I know for some friends it has been, planned kids yo the month, planned second kid to start maternity leave when older one was x age.
And colleagues who got married, started TTC then complained it happened too quickly!

I'm also pissed off with the paused IVF situation, had started my 5th stim cycle and had more than 3 times as many follicles as my last cycle. If all the folicles had contained eggs I would have got more eggs than all previous treatment combined.
Seriously, a week earlier and I would have got to egg collection.

There is already a baby boom in my family, 3 cousins having babies in the next few months. They'll probably all be born before I can even start treatment again so that's yet more baby gifts to buy.

@Hungry1 on another thread it has been mentioned that Create are offering discounts for people who pay for a cycle now, or put down a deposit.

I'm amazed they stopped you half way through you treatment. I really feel for you. It just feels like such an injustice doesn't it when for other people it's so easy.

Sorry I should have said my clinic is in Madrid so I was having scans here and was due to fly over for final scan and trigger before egg collection. Originally they tried to get my treatment to be in another area but then lockdown happened there and the private clinic medical staff had to be redeployed to wherever needed.
That's partly why it will take me even longer to get going again, because of the travel involved.
When things start up again it might be worth a consultation with Mr Ramsay for your DH, an expert in male factor. He's called Jonathan Ramsay, you could have a Google or search here for posts about him.

Maybe we should suggest the alternative version of that advert. The infertility version where you’ve spent £1000s on IVF with nothing to show for it and are having to sell half the contents of your house on eBay to try and pay for it all. I don’t think they’ll go for it.

@Hungry1 when we were last at the hospital they said for partner to start using proxeed plus . It £40 put has really really good reviews and with hospital saying get it before IVF we have it. I am on the clearblue firtility monitor to track ovulation. I just need to feel like we doing something. Then people says "shouldn't be trying for a baby" I just can't stop. We have 3 goes at IVF thats if it still the same when we out of this x

@Hungry1 because we have the frozen embryo left over from our NHS round it's about £2500 as we aren't paying for stims or egg collection.
