Low follicle reserve

Thewait2020 · 16/03/2020 11:19

Hi,

I’ve just had my scan.
She said that I have a low follicle reserve and she can’t see that I’ve ovulated. I’m on day 23 of my cycle.

Any advice is appreciated x

I’m bumping this up as I would really love some advice, I’m going out of my mind!

How many follicles did they say you had? How old are you?

Thewait2020 · 17/03/2020 08:51

Hi, thanks for your reply...I’m nearly 31 and she didn’t tell me. She just said she would hope to see more. X

I’ve just spoken to the clinic,
She said I have 8 on my right ovary and 5 on my left.
She has said that I did ovulate this month as progesterone was 33 x

Your follicle count is maybe a little low for your age but it often doesn't change a bit month to month

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 17/03/2020 12:42

*does change

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted Thank you for answering.
I don’t suppose you know whether they will offer treatment? Iui or ivf? Or will they say just keep trying for longer. It’s been 16 months so far x

They'll say to keep trying until you reach 2 years then if neither yourself or your partner have kids already and assuming your area hasn't stopped offering it all together then IVF is the most likely route

You should still get a good number of eggs - just not the 20+ some people get but it really is quality over quantity - my best quality embryos/blastocysts have come from The IVF cycle where I only had 2 eggs x

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted Thank you so much for your help.

We’re back to the clinic in June to discuss options. We are extremely lucky that our area offers 1 FET and 2 frozen. We’ve been told that we meet the criteria so should get funding.

That’s exactly what the clinic said when I called panicking, she said they’re not dreadful numbers and it’s all about quality. My husband is thrilled as they told him that he has super sperm 🤣 he said he’s never been over average in his life bless him x

I'm 31 and my afc was 9 last year. 6 on one 3 on the other. Upped to 15 just before my cycle and i got 10 eggs. Unfortunately it wasn't successful. Try not to read too much into it, stress won't help.

Thewait2020 · 17/03/2020 15:32

@Mseddy thanks for your reply, did you go straight to IVF? This is the part I’m most stressed about- our next step. Our next appointment isn’t until the 4th of June so we have a wait until we discuss what happens.

Thank you, I hope your next cycle is successful x

@Thewait2020 we did yeah, but this was due to male factor. My shit ovaries are just the icing on a rather shitty cake we've been trying to bake for the last few years! It's hard waiting, but June will be here in no time x

Thewait2020 · 19/03/2020 10:17

@Mseddy oh I am sorry that you’re battling more than one obstacle.
I have an autoimmune disease so wondering whether that’s playing a part in the low follicles.
I just can’t wait for June so we know the options, I currently have zero clue about whether they’re wanting us to continue naturally or whether we stand no chance naturally.

I hope you get your precious bfp soon 💗
