Hi all,

I’m new here so after some insight really.

We have just been referred by my GP to Oxford Fertility. I have my appointment on Tuesday 3rd March, I was chuffed that it came through so quickly!
The lady that booked it said my appointment is 30 minutes.
I haven’t had my ultrasound scan yet so I’m wondering if this first appointment will be my scan or whether it is something different?
I’m awaiting my letter to confirm details but I just wondered if anyone had used Oxford Fertility and could give me an insight into the process.

We’re unsure whether we will be going down the IVF route yet as I need a scan and husband is waiting for his SA results.

Thanks for your help,
L x

@Xx40yearsyoungxx it’s so hard isn’t it. I completely understand why things need to go on hold but at the same time it’s so difficult for us.

Is your clinic separate from the hospital? Mine isn’t even on the grounds so I’m hoping everything will go ahead still. I’m hoping the June appointment will go ahead 🤞🏼 it’s a little while off so hopefully it’s all calmed down by then.

When are you supposed to be having the egg collection? I would call them and check x

Hi - after reading threads for ages I am finally diving in. I have just been sent a choice of clinics and Oxford Fertility is one of them - can anyone who's been there tell me about their experiences? I've looked up all the HFEA data but trying to find out things about waiting lists (I know these will change with covid), parking, admin, nursing team etc. Chosing a clinic is driving me insane...

Hey there, I’m new to this group :) but just wanted to say I been to the Oxford NHS for fertility (as I didn’t want to choose Swindon one) they were amazing!! Pretty quick moving and they tell you step by step everything that’s going to happen , so friendly and it was worth my hour bus trip to them when I needed to go up there.
Good luck with everything :) x

Hiya just wanted to say hello , I’m new to this group on here and I’m from Swindon :)
I have PCOS (found out at the age of 16)
Tried for a baby from 20 to 30 with my partner ... after 8yrs naturally trying I put in for IVF and got given 2 choices ,Swindon or oxford, which I 100% choose oxford as they have better success rates for fertility and the best place for it :)
I already knew the problem so didn’t need any extra scans ( due to my ovaries covered in cysts) and I wasn’t having periods which meant I wasn’t ovulating ...
I went straight to oxford for a consultation with the fertility doctor to discuss the plans and tell them all about me & my partner.
Fast forward.. they started me on the low dose of CLOMID 50mg just 2 times a day for a week , then after I think it was a month or two I had to book in for a clomid scan.
Which meant I went to the clinic they scanned my ovaries to see if there was any follicles ...

Which there wasn’t :(

So next they gave me 100mg to take twice a day then repeated the scan ..
which then they shown me on the screen
There was follicles (little blobs they looked like lol) but they was small & only a few :(

So the tablets failed a few times ( getting pregnant) but I was getting bigger follicles so they were doing there job :)

Fast forward on my 6th lot of clomid (my last try) I took a test as I felt abit odd one morning and to my surprise after 12yrs trying to get pregnant, I was pregnant!!!
First time I’ve seen 2 lines on a test instead of 10000 times seeing 1 line & heart aches ..
I finally became pregnant and only with clomid tablets so they class it as a naturally pregnancy with a helping hand :-D
I had a early scan (8weeks) to check everything was okay, at oxford - it was amazing!!! I seen this little jelly bean on the screen & they confirmed everything was good! Then I continued everything like a normal pregnancy in Swindon ...

And now I have a nearly 1 & half year old cheeky little boy xxxx

I’m hoping for another baby (hasn’t happened yet) but I’m hoping to get back to the doctors & ask for some help (clomid) soon xx

@chrissy338 thank you so much for joining and sharing your story. I’m thrilled that you had success with clomid.
We are due an appointment in 5 weeks, I’m hoping it goes ahead so we can discuss the next steps.
So far the clinic in Swindon has been fab but we’ve only been in contact a few times and had one appointment there. I will consider Oxford if things are not progressing well, did it matter that you were NHS but chose to go out of county? Do the regulations still stay the same?

It’s not out the country hun it’s just oxford (another town) but it didn’t matter as it’s an NHS hospital but well known for IVF success .. yeah I hope you have success in Swindon’s one just for me at the time they wasn’t very good all they kept saying was loose weight , wasn’t interested in helping etc but everyone is different :)

It’s an exciting but heart aching journey we out ourselves through huh.. but sooooo worth it , I know that now :)

Thewait2020 · 30/04/2020 09:59

@chrissy338 hopefully it won’t be much longer for us 🤞🏼
Good luck for baby number 2! Xx

Hello all! Just jumping on the bandwagon and seeing how you have all found Oxford Fertility? We were initially under Coventry a year down the line we need PGD treatment as part of our ICSI treatment. Was referred to Birmingham women’s for this in November and was still on a waiting list for referral to be triaged so have decided to transfer to Oxford Fertility for our NHS treatment. I have been impressed so far but have not had a consultation or really started anything with them yet. Xx
