I’m a newbie here and feeling rather overwhelmed to be honest!
I have got my first appointment with the fertility clinic at St Mary’s Paddington next week. DH has a low sperm count, had bilateral undescended testicles at birth which he had an op for when he was a toddler and was also given testosterone as a teenager to help with growth. The sperm count was low at the most recent test and he is doing it again now, before our appointment.
We have been TTC for about a year now although there have been several months where I know that we didn’t DTD on the optimal day. I am struggling with the idea that we might be at that stage of going down the assisted route when, hand on heart, I know that there have been months where, realistically, we didn’t have much of a chance of conception due to timings. But then again, I am 34 so don’t want to hang about.
What are other people’s experiences of the first appointment with a known male factor? Of course, I am also an unknown although I do have regular cycles, albeit with a shorter luteal phase than normal, so this is also a case of checking me out.
Any advice really gratefully received!
