IVF and ccg funding

We are likely to be referred for IVF at our next appointment. Our gp is in one area but our consultant is in another. Which ccg would we come under for funding?

Funding will depend on where you live x

It's GP not where your consultant is based

Your own address. I've just been through this and had to explain in detail to both my GP and their secretary which supposedly deals with similar referrals ALL the time! If the criteria was based on where the specialist is, then obviously everyone in the country would go to the clinic that offers most IVF rounds, less criteria about BMI, smoking etc etc.
The secretary came back to say 'no need to rush the referral, you have 2 yrs before the cut off age'. This was completely wrong, and I had 4mths before the age cut off infact! Read up what the criteria is for the area you live in, so you are informed and aware. Push for a referral if you are older. Some areas don't provide even 1 round at all for any age. Also check for other criteria such as smoking in either partner and BMI criteria. Good luck.

Funding depends entirely on the CCG which the GP practice you’re registered with is in.

It’s not based on your address or the hospital. although your address obviously has some bearing on where your GP surgery is located, it’s the CCG your GP is in rather than your address which determines funding.

Great thank you everyone. Glad it's the gp ccg as I think they offer 3 rounds whereas where my consultant is only offer 1 round
