Hi all

My husband has had a number of sperm analyses over the past few months, the earlier results showing low count (70% motility) which we are delighted with, however the morphology has reduced to 1%!!

We are a bit concerned with the decrease in morphology. Has anyone else experienced this or achieved conception with low morphology?

That’s great news about the count and motility. My partner had low morphology (2 % in September) and by October it was 4% - all other parameters were the same. Not been successful yet and due to have another SA in April if not successful after 3 rounds of clomid. Good luck x

I'm surprised about such a change in morphology?? 4% is considered "normal" but obviously 1% is a significant drop

Was he ill in the weeks leading up to the sample? That can sometimes have a short term affect? Or maybe his sample was contaminated somehow?

We are the other way in that we started out with really low morphology and got that up to 4%

Obviously natural conception is still possible but if you went for IVF you'd be advised to do ICSI

@JandL2020 - great to hear your partner's improvement. That's fantastic. How is count and motility for your partner and why was clomid prescribed?

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted ye the drop for morphology was such a shock as other tests showed it to be normal (4%). He wasn't ill leading up to the test so I can't understand how count and motility would improve so much but morphology drop!
I'm wondering that now bring us back to square one, with natural conception unlikely? V frustrating

Count is 14 million something so just short of what is considered normal and mot I can’t remember but that was fine. The most frustrating thing about all is the GP at first told us count was high, but as it turns out he told us the wrong figure! X
