HSG and follicle tracking scan

Hi all,

Some of you may have seen some of my other posts. Ttc 19mths no previous children, was referred to infertility clinic in dec and seen 10th jan. I have a HSG and follicle tracking scan next week - any experience would be nice to hear, read all horror stories online, but also one that say the HSG cleared them through and got pregnant next cycle

I have had 2 HSGs and whilst they were a little uncomfortable it was nothing like I read online and that's with a blocked tube! No success story for me though I'm afraid

I've also had 2 hsg - found them fine - not painful maybe a little uncomfortable but that's it. My tubes were clear though

Please be aware though that the test can only tell if you are tubes are blocked - it can't tell you if the tubes actually work and are capable of moving an egg though to them to the uterus so they results can give false hope

I've also had follicle tracking done - I found it useful as at least I then felt more confident that I was actually ovulating and also enabled us to time having sex a bit better

@Lauren83 @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted thank you both for your reply, I'm little happier about the procedure not being painful now.

How did they unblock you tube? I have read its laparoscopic surgery?

I had mine removed, success rates with tubal unblocking are very slim and leave you more at risk of an ectopic, it's much more common to have them removed/clipped or left alone depending where the blockage is and it's a hydrosalpinx (fluid in tube)

I ended up losing both my tubes to ruptured ectopics anyway which is why I don't have much confidence in the HSG test x

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted @Lauren83 I'm so sorry that this did not work for you two. If you don't mind me asking will you have to go down the route of IVF now?

@babybumpfor2020
Hi yes IVF only option for us now even though my second ectopic was following an IVF transfer

Mine was a few years ago, I went on to have IVF with own eggs and donor eggs and then had a son, I did conceive naturally not long after I had him too
