Has anyone applied to the NHS for additional funding?

We have severe male factor infertility (OH is a CF carrier). We got one cycle on the NHS, 14 eggs, 9 mature but not a single one fertilised. They think it’s due to poor sperm quality. I’m unsure if anyone has experienced something similar due to CF gene? As as far as I was aware it wouldn’t necessarily cause poor quality.

Anyway, Leicester consider a full cycle complete at failure to fertilise. This means we have a hefty bill to find the money for and is adding stress to an already stressful time. There were various cock ups at our clinic, and due to my partner having a genetic issue, I was considering applying to our CCG for further funding. Does anyone have any experience of this? TIA

I've heard of people appealing before but chances of being successful are near zero - unless they have admitted to medical negligence (nigh on impossible to get them to admit that) and that the poor outcome of your IVF was directly related to the negligence then I think you are going to struggle. Unfortunately it's medically well known that being a man with CF means infertility so they will say that that was the cause of the failure?

There are lots of funding options out there at the moment for IVF - interest free loans etc - which work out cheaper than the cost of raising a baby when it does arrive so I would certainly explore that?

sorry OH is classed as having CF as both genes are mutated

Thanks for the response @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted I guessed it would be pretty hard to gain any further funding. The postcode lottery seems so unfair but I guess at least we got one cycle. I know CF causes infertility in that OH has a missing vas deferens but we were told by our consultant that this shouldn’t necessarily mean poor quality. Makes me wonder if there’s anything else going on.
Guess it’s an interest free credit card then!
