Left over IVF medication

Hi everyone,
We are now 9 months pregnant from our second round of IVF. I have lots of left over meds which are still stored in my fridge and which I have been hanging on to in case this pregnancy also didn't work out. If all goes well in the next few weeks I won't be needing them anymore. What should I do with them? I stupidly over bought the meds as I was told the chances of it working were so slim and we bought multiple IVF rounds. There is about £500 worth and it seems such a shame to just chuck them in the bin. Thoughts?

Can you not keep them in case you get broody again?
Unfortunately, its illegal to sell or gift :-(

What are the drugs?

Oh - that's a shame - especially as their are so expensive. I would have loved to buy cheap or been gifted the meds when we did it. I think they expire in August 2020 so I definitely won't be broody for IVF again before then.

I have Gonal-F and Cetrotide.

I have been meaning for months to post a similar message. I have about £200 of left over medication that I will never use and would be happy to gift to anyone who could use it. Did not know it was illegal though so I guess that's that.

Unfortunately for me not such a happy story: had three rounds of IVF, all self-funded, and no success; can't afford anymore so the meds will never come in handy in the future. Also I'm 40 in two months so my story ends here.

Do you think the hospital would take them back? Surely they could use them for another self-funded patient? Obviously they were prescribed for me, but it's the same meds they would prescribe most people. Packs are unopened. Anymore know?

I rang the clinic about our leftovers and they won't take them back, I've two boxes full, it seems such a waste when people have to spend a fortune on them

Clinics can't reuse as they can't be sure they have been stored correctly once they have been prescribed, either ask the pharmacy to dispose or your clinic may be able to make use of some to demonstrate in an injection teach

I know this is an old thread but I know CRGH in London take back unused meds to be used in training

Please don’t throw them in the bin. You need to return them to a pharmacy for correct disposal (ANY pharmacy will do - it doesn’t have to be the one you bought then from or even a pharmacy which stocks those drugs).
